    The Piracy Act 1721 c.24 was an Act of the Parliament of Great Britain. The long title and preamble of the Act were cquote An Act for the more effectual suppressing of Piracy. Whereas the number of persons committing piracies, felonies, and robberies upon the seas is of late very much increased, and notwithstanding the laws already made and now in being, many idle and profligate persons have turned pirates, and betaken themselves to that wicked course of life, whereby the trade and navigation into remote parts will greatly suffer unless some further provision be speedily made for bringing such persons and all others who shall be any ways aiding and assisting, or in confederacy with them, to condign punishment Parts of the Act were superseded by the Piracy Act 1837 . All remaining parts of the Act were repealed on 11 May 1993 by the Statute Law Repeals Act 1993 . The mob reached him first and he was bludgeoned and dismembered in the grounds of his home, now known as the Radnorshire Arms , where his remains are buried beneath a cherry tree. Vaughan left behind a large body of poems and plays dealing with Sadism and Masochism Sadism , much of which has been lost or destroyed.     John William Ruxton 1721 &ndash 7 March 1785 was an Irish landowner and Member of Parliament. The son of William Ruxton 1697 1751 William Ruxton of Ardee in County Louth , he married Laetitia Fitzherbert, eventual heiress of Shercock in County Cavan and Blackcastle in County Meath . He was elected to succeed his father as MP for Ardee Parliament of Ireland constituency Ardee in 1751, and sat until 1776. He was then re elected in October 1783 along with his younger brother, Charles Ruxton and sat until his death. Ardee and Shercock were inherited by the eldest son, William Ruxton died 1821 William , while Blackcastle was inherited by a younger son John. This son married Margaret Edgeworth, aunt of the novelist Maria Edgeworth . Samuel Hopkins September 17, 1721 December 20, 1803 was an American Congregationalist, theologian of the late colonial era of the United States, and from whom the New Divinity Hopkinsian theology takes its name. Early life Samuel Hopkins the younger was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and was named after his uncle, Samuel Hopkins 1693 1755 , a minister in the church in West Springfield, Massachusetts . Hopkins graduated from Yale College in 1741, then studied divinity in Northampton, Massachusetts with his brother in law Jonathan Edwards theology Jonathan Edwards . He was licensed to preach in 1742, and in December 1743 was ordained pastor of the First Congregational Church of Great Barrington North Parish of Sheffield now Great Barrington in Housatonic, Massachusetts , a small settlement of only 30 families, from 1743 to 1769. Hopkins theological views were faced opposition and was finally dismissed from the pastorate on the grounds of lack of funds for his support.
