The Rough Wooing December 1543 March 1550 was a conflict between Scotland and England. War was declared by Henry VIII of England , in an attempt to force the Scots to agree to a marriage between his son Edward VI of England Edward and Mary, Queen of Scots . This changes the action s setoff setting so that the escapement trips at a lower point in the hammer s motion towards the string. This allows the action to be regulated correctly in the non silent setting.
