In Semitic languages Semitic linguistics, the elative is a stage of gradation in Arabic language Arabic that can be used both for a superlative and comparative . The Arabic elative has a special inflection similar to that of colour adjective s, though differing in certain details. To form an elative, the consonants of the adjective s Triliteral root are placed in the context aCCaC in the masculine singular, CuCC in the feminine singular, and most commonly CuCaC in the plural. So the adjective kab r large, great is changed to akbar as in takbir in the masculine singular elative, and to kubr in the feminine singular elative. For the plural, kubar would be expected, but separate masculine plural ak bir and feminine plural kubray t are found as irregular forms. In modern Arabic, the feminine and plural forms of the elative are rarely used, except when the elative word is prefixed with the definite article. ref Patrick Comparative semitic linguistics a manual 1998 ref Notes Reflist DEFAULTSORT Elative Gradation Category Linguistic morphology Category Semitic linguistics Ling morph stub de Elativ nn Elativ ... more details

In the UK, in order for a qualification to be recognized as part of the National Qualifications Framework QCF , and transferable between courses, institutions and occupations, it must be accredited through one of the United Kingdom Awarding Bodies that is regulated by the three government appointed statutory education bodies. These are the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority QCA in England , the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations & Assessment CCEA in Northern Ireland , and the ACCAC Qualifications, Curriculum and Assessment Authority DELLS in Wales . There are 120 of these Awarding Bodies listed at the http www.accreditedqualifications.org.uk awarding body awarding body directory.seo.aspx National Database of Accredited Qualifications . Some specialize in specific subjects. Others specialize in types of qualifications, such as A levels and NVQs National Vocation Qualifications . An Awarding Body does not always provide courses that lead to a qualification. Often an Awarding Body will provide an approval process for independent training providers who, if they meet the criteria, are able to award qualifications that are accredited by that Awarding Body. A qualification from an Awarding Body is always clearly identified as being at one of 9 Levels. These begin with Entry Level and then run from Level One through to Level Eight. They have approximate equivalences with Academic Qualifications. Level Five is commensurate with a Bachelors degree and Level Eight is equivalent to a Doctorate degree . Unreferenced date December 2009 Vocational Certificate of Education , usually shortened to VCE or Vocational A Level or AVCE , was a vocational education vocational qualification that used to be available in Further Education colleges and school sixth form s in the United Kingdom . Subjects and assessment VCEs were available in many subjects including Information technology Information and Communication Technology , Health and Social Care, Hospitality and Management, Leisure and Recreation, Travel and Tourism, Business. Many students prefer the vocational system because they can learn more from hands on work, though others find it difficult to maintain their motivation because of the constant evaluation and coursework. The qualification was created in September 2000 to replace the Advanced GNVQ , with the main change being that the marking system was altered from the three level Distinction, Merit and Pass system to A&ndash E grading, bringing the AVCE into line with Advanced Level UK A Level s. AVCE was intended to lead on to higher education or employment. The AVCE was made up of modules, each covering different aspects of the subject. Some of these modules overlapped and some institutes chose to virtually merge their content. Students had complete a set number of modules in order to qualify for an AVCE AVCE Double Award 12 units worth two A levels AVCE Single Award 6 units worth one A level ASVCE 3 units worth one AS level Assessment was by a mixture of continuous assessment , based on a portfolio of evidence, and externally set and marked examinations.
