  1. AdS/QCD

unreferenced date July 2009 In theoretical physics , the AdS QCD correspondence is a program to describe Quantum Chromodynamics QCD in terms of a dual gravitational theory, following the principles of the AdS CFT correspondence in a setup where the quantum field theory is not a conformal field theory . Such an alternative description of QCD could provide the physicists with new procedures to calculate many observables more efficiently. The idea of AdS QCD goes back to a paper by Gerard t Hooft who had shown that the limit of a gauge theory with a large number of colors is a version of string theory . The picture became much more specific in 1997 when Juan Maldacena identified explicit string theories that are equivalent to various gauge theories with supersymmetry . While many physicists such as Alexander Markovich Polyakov Alexander Polyakov believe that this idea is very good, some QCD experts such as Frank Wilczek remain skeptical whether or not this program may lead to quantitative, accurate predictions that can t be extracted from QCD itself. 1. Northeast Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa

Unreferenced date December 2009 Orphan date February 2009 The Northeast Coalition for the Liberation of Southern Africa NECLSA was an anti apartheid organization founded in 1977 at Yale University by members of the Black Student Alliance at Yale BSAY and students at Rutgers University in response to the massacre of black students by the South African police during the Soweto student uprisings in June 1976. The organization quickly expanded to a majority membership of white Americans. At its height, NECLSA became the umbrella organization of Anti Apartheid committees on some 100 campuses throughout the North East region of the United States. The organization initiated the South Africa divestment movement on the U.S. university campuses. The movement was eminently successful in focusing and influencing corporate America s policy towards apartheid South Africa. It can be argued that NECLSA and its sister organizations in the Mid West, South and West of the United States, made a pivotal contribution to the eventual abolition of apartheid in South Africa. ISASA today is a section 21 company not for gain , which represents more than 460 independent schools in South Africa , Botswana , Swaziland , Namibia , Angola and Mozambique . Over 120,000 learners attend ISASA affiliated schools. Since the collapse of the apartheid state and the advent of democracy in South Africa , dramatic changes have occurred in the independent private school sector. In 1990, there were approximately 550 registered independent schools in the country. The dominant public perception of independent schools at that time was white, affluent and exclusive . Present Situation There are now at least 1290 independent schools in South Africa more if primary and secondary schools are counted separately. Over 60 of all independent schools have been established since 1990. The sector now educates more than 400,000 learners, of which 70 are non white 58 are Black . The majority of schools charge fees below South African Rand R 6 000 per annum. Only 14 of schools charge fees of more than South African Rand R 20 000 per annum. 1. Southern Africa Association for the Advancement of Science

The Southern Africa Association for the Advancement of Science S2A3 is a learned society , originally known as the South African Association for the Advancement of Science SAAAS . Its principal aim is to increase the public awareness and understanding of science , engineering and technology , and their role in society , by means of various awards and by communicating the nature, processes, ethics , and excitement of science.
