  1. In a Grove

nihongo In a Grove Yabu no Naka is a short story by Ry nosuke Akutagawa , first appearing in the January 1922 edition of the Japanese literature monthly Shincho Shinch . Akira Kurosawa used this story as the basis for his award winning movie Rashomon film Rash mon . In a Grove is an early modernist short story, as well as a blending of the modernist search for identity with themes from historic Japanese literature, and as such is perhaps the iconic work of Akutagawa s career. It presents seven varying accounts of the murder of a samurai, Kanazawa no Takehiro, whose corpse has been found in a bamboo forest near Kyoto . Each section simultaneously clarifies and obfuscates what the reader knows about the murder, eventually creating a complex and contradictory vision of events that brings into question humanity s ability or willingness to perceive and transmit objective truth . They are also often credited for being effective tools of public outreach , community empowerment, and education for the issues surrounding AIDS. refimprove date January 2011 The question of Islam and AIDS has arisen in recent years as the HIV AIDS epidemic has grown stronger, especially since the spread of the disease is often due to preventable social factors involving religious ethics . The Muslim Awareness Programme MAP , based in South Africa is a faith based organization that promotes HIV AIDS prevention strategies based on the moral teachings of Islam. These activities include the promotion of abstinence from all sexual activity outside marriage refraining from drug use, and instilling faithfulness within marriage. There is a need of an effective education program directed at the health care system in 3rd world and Muslim countries. Strategies to Combat HIV AIDS According to most Muslims, the key to combating to the HIV AIDS epidemic is prevention. In their view, the Islamic position on morality, chastity and the sanctity of marriage needs to be shared with the world. 1. Acting on AIDS

Acting on AIDS is a grassroots organization that was founded by Christian college students as Seattle Pacific University. The purpose of this organization is to raise awareness, promote advocacy, and transform the response to global AIDS and related issues of injustice. Students, campus organizations, and ministries take part in the organization to create awareness and discipleship efforts to change the public opinion about AIDS. It soon gained the support of World Vision , and now Christian college students across the nation have formed a network of Acting on AIDS chapters. By using resources such as Want Less Give More and 40 Days Toward Justice the members of the organization engage their faith and use it to answer the tough questions. Since its inception in August 2004, Acting on AIDS has grown to approximately 190 campus chapters around the United States . Do You See Orange? Do You See Orange? is one of the most successful campaigns Acting on AIDS has started. 1. Survive AIDS

Unreferenced date December 2010 Survive AIDS is the group formerly known as ACT UP Golden Gate . In 1990, the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power ACT UP chapter in San Francisco split into two chapters, the San Francisco chapter and the Golden Gate chapter. The catalyst for this was over decision making processes, although it also involved many larger issues. According to ACT UP Golden Gate, ACT UP Golden Gate concentrated on issues involving treatment and treatment access while ACT UP San Francisco focused on broader social issues involving public policy and politics. Over the next several years the two ACT UP chapters worked separately and together on local and national AIDS issues. But in 1994, the two organizations stopped working together, and they grew further apart. The AIDS Survival project writes, By the late 90s, ACT UP San Francisco developed a very different philosophy concerning AIDS treatment and began to align itself with groups that believe HIV does not cause AIDS and that it is the use of anti HIV medications which make people get sick and die.
