    An acrostic is a type of word puzzle, related somewhat to crossword puzzle s, that uses an acrostic form. It typically consists of two parts. The first part is a set of lettered clues, each of which has numbered blanks representing the letters of the answer. The second part is a long series of numbered blanks and spaces, representing a quotation or other text, into which the answers for the clues fit. In some forms of the puzzle, the first letters of each correct clue answer, read in order from clue A on down the list, will spell out the author of the quote and the title of the work it is taken from this can be used as an additional solving aid. An example For example, two clues in the first part might be cellspacing 8 align center A. Country of the Rising Sun align center 8 5 17 2 14 align center B.     Menahem Zioni Ziyyuni ben Meir of Speyer was a kabbalist of the middle of the 15th century, author of the cabalistic commentary iyyuni, from which he derives his name. He based his work upon Rashi and Na manides , and especially upon the old cabalistic literature of the geonic period. The iyyuni is introduced by poems in alphabetic and acrostic order. The division Bereshit begins with a preface on the importance of the assumption of the creation of the world, and in support of this view the arguments of Maimonides are quoted at length. Short poems serve as transitions to the several parashiyyot , and in conclusion there is an acrostic poem, to which, in the second edition, another poem is added. The verse of Zioni quoted by Leopold Dukes L. Dukes Orient, Lit. iv. 798 from a manuscript chrestomathy constitutes the last stanza of this final poem. An ascetic , she lived in a cave in the Garni Valley , near present day Yerevan there she produced ecclesiastical poems as well as liturgical chants. Of these, the only one to survive is Srbuhi Mariam St. Mary , a nine stanza acrostic verse. It is believed that many of her hymns were dedicated to the Virgin Mary . Some of them are supposed to have helped to further shape the genre in subsequent centuries. Sahakduxt is also known to have taught lay music lovers and clerical students a number of sacred melodies this she did while seated behind a curtain, as the mores of the period required. Sibyls would give answers whose value depended upon good questions unlike prophet s who typically answered with responses indirectly related to questions asked. There were many Sibyl s in the ancient world, but this oracle prophesied Alexander the Great s divine parentage, according to legend. Presumably there was more than one Sibyl at Erythrae.
