It has a Post Office and a K 8 school and a library. On December 3rd of the year 2007, a mix of unfortunate weather patterns caused a torrential flood in the Boistfort Valley, at the head of which is the town of Curtis. The General Store Shown in the picture on the right. was underwater up to the gutters, as were a multitude of houses and farms. The community rallied together during the flood when the local Fire Dept opened the Baw Faw Grange Hall for an emergency relief center and began to monitor and organize volunteer efforts to rebuild after the flood subsided. The amount of people that came to help was phenomenal From hundreds, and even thousands of miles, people came to help the flooded and distraught residents clear feet of mud out of houses and rebuild the community. Some of the people that helped were from Fire Depts from District 13 Boistfort and everywhere around for, again, hundreds of miles. Since that time, Curtis, and the Boistfort Valley in general have become a recognized name in the county as a group of people that came together and harnessed true American Spirit when the time of need was great.
