Kai Kobad also known as Kay Qob d is a mythological figure of Iranian folklore and oral tradition. The Kai stock epithet identifies Kobad as a Kayanian dynasty Kayanian , a semi mythological dynasty that in tradition Kai Kobad was also the founder of. In the tradition preserved in the Shahnameh , Kai Kobad was a descendant of Manuchehr , and lived in the Alborz mountains, and was brought to the Estaxr the capital by Rustam . Under Nowzar , who loses the lang ae Khvarenah x small sup v sup small ar nah for oppressing the Iranians, the Hushang Pishd di dynasty grows weak, and Iran falls to the Aniran ian General Afrasiab , who kills Nowzar in battle.     Merge qanat date November 2011 Kariz refers to water supply kareez lang fa also spelt kareez karez kariz and later called qanat in Arabic In its early beginnings, Samarkand occupied part of Mount Afrasiab Afrosiab , which rises to the north of today s Samarkand. As the city grew, it expanded its borders, and by the 9th century it occupied the entire hill. When Alexander the Great arrived, he established an intricate arrangement of lead water pipes called, Kariz along an aqueduct as the lifeblood for the city. Kariz was an ancient waterpipe system laid from the source of spring water in the mountain valleys to places where it could be used. The pipeline s length could reach several kilometers, and contains interconnected wells that were dug out and spaced several meters from each other. These wells were used for cleaning sediment and debris from the pipeline system. The remains of this military fortress rise up above the town and the water supply system that the Alexander the Great installed is still partially used even today. The fortress is situated on the south of modern Nurata. It represents one of the most ancient and significant archaeological monuments of the region. The fortress consisted of several parts, with Shahristan the inner town 500x500 meters in size, which was surrounded at that with a large wall and towers. The construction of a fortress at Nurata had a definite purpose, as the town was set in a strategic place at the border between an agricultural area and a wild steppe.     hsan Oktay Anar , born 1960 in Yozgat , Turkey , is a Turkish people Turkish writer, illustrator, literature translator and an academic. He studied philosophy in Ege University on undergraduate 1984 , graduate 1989 and doctoral levels. Anar now teaches at the same university, lecturing in antique philosophy and Greek language Greek . Anar published his first novel, The Atlas of Misty Continents Puslu K talar Atlas in 1995. His novels are fantasy pieces supported by historical facts and rumors especially related to the Ottoman Empire and a narration resembling fairy tales. He is known for well developed, various and original characters and providing a philosophical basis for his fantasy plots. He uses a mixture of Ottoman and folk terminology within his Turkish writings, giving references to myths and historical scriptures. The basic story of the bowman runs as follows In a war between the Iran ians and the Aniran non Iranians in post Sassanid tradition frequently identified with the Turan ians over the royal glory Khvarenah khwarrah , the General Afrasiab has surrounded the forces of the righteous Manuchehr , and the two sides agree to make peace. Both reach an agreement that whatever land falls within the range of a bow shot shall be returned to the Manuchehr and the Iranians, and the rest should then fall to Afraisab and the Aniranians. An angel in al Biruni it is Esfandaramad , i.e. the Amesha Spenta Ameretat , Middle Persian MP Spendarmad instructs Manuchehr to construct a special bow and arrow, and Arash is asked to be the archer. Arash then fires the specially prepared arrow at dawn, which then traveled a great distance see below before finally landing and so marking the future border between the Iranians and the Aniranians. In Talebi and Balami, Arash is destroyed by the shot and disappears. In al Tabari, he is exalted by the people, is appointed commander of the archers and lives out his life in great honor. The distance the arrow travels varies in one it is thousand leagues farsakhs , in another forty days walk. In several, the arrow traveled from dawn to noon, in others from dawn until sunset. A few sources specify a particular date for the event. The Ark is a massive fortress located in the city of Bukhara , Uzbekistan that was initially built and occupied around the 5th century AD. In addition to being a military structure, the Ark encompassed what was essentially a town that, during much of the fortress history, was inhabited by the various royal courts that held sway over the region surrounding Bukhara. The Ark was used as a fortress until it fell to Russia in 1920. Currently, the ruins of the Ark are a tourist attraction and house museums covering its history. Description The Ark is large earthen fortification in the northwestern part of contemporary Bukhara. In plan it resembles a modified rectangle, a little elongated from the west to the east.
