  1. Network-neutral data center

Telecomm term stub A network neutral data center is a data center or carrier hotel which allows interconnection between multiple telecommunication carriers and or Colocation business colocation providers. Network neutral data centers exist all over the world and vary in size and power. While some data centers are owned and operated by a Telecommunications service provider telecommunications or Internet service provider , network neutral data centers are operated by a third party who has little or no part in providing Internet service to the end user . This encourages competition and diversity as a Server computing server in a colocation centre can have one provider, multiple providers or only connect back to the headquarters of the company who owns the server. One benefit of Internet hosting service hosting in a network neutral data center is the ability to switch providers without physically moving the server to another location. 1. Public switched data network

Unreferenced date December 2009 Orphan date December 2009 A public switched data network PSDN is a publicly available packet switched network , distinct from the PSTN . Originally this term referred only to Packet Switch Stream PSS , an X.25 based packet switched network, mostly used to provide leased line connections between local area network s and the Internet using permanent virtual circuit s PVCs . Today, the term may refer not only to Frame Relay and Asynchronous Transfer Mode ATM , both providing PVCs, but also to Internet Protocol IP , GPRS , and other packet switching techniques. Whilst there are several technologies that are superficially similar to the PSDN, such as Integrated Services Digital Network ISDN and the Digital Subscriber Line DSL technologies, they are not examples of it. ISDN utilizes the PSTN circuit switched network, and DSL uses point to point circuit switching communications overlaid on the PSTN local loop copper wires , usually utilized for access to a packet switched broadband IP network. 1. Education Data Exchange Network

Unreferenced date June 2007 The Education Data Exchange Network EDEN is a set of K 12 statistical reports gathered from state agencies by the US Department of Education . Formerly known as Performance Based Data Management Initiative PBDMI , EDEN attempts to gather statistics from each state such as school populations within subgroups race, gender, etc. , graduation rates and school spending. EDEN data gathering is complicated by the fact that no data sent to federal agencies may contain private data about an individual student that would violate the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act FERPA guidelines. So a state agency can not just send a list of students and their test scores. A reporting agency can only send a list of subgroups and counts if the counts are above a small number such as five. 1. Network Control Center Data System

The Network Control Center Data System NCCDS is an element of NASA s Space Network SN ground segment. Collocated with the White Sands Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System , the NCCDS is the operations control facility for the network. It schedules most Space Network elements and supporting elements and provides interfaces for planning, acquisition, control, and status of the Space Network. The NCCDS is the point of contact between customers who have satellites in orbit and the Space Network for most scheduling and real time performance. A customer may obtain Space Network support by submitting specific schedule requests to or establishing generic requirements with the NCCDS. The NCCDS translates customers requirements into specific TDRS communications and tracking events. Additionally, the NCCDS notifies affected customers of scheduled system outages so that Mission Operation Centers MOCs can properly plan mission activities. Upon MOC request, the NCCDS provides operational performance information such as data presence monitoring indicators and data quality monitoring data on scheduled services during actual support to determine if conditions exist that will affect data quality. The NCCDS issues Network Advisory Messages NAMs to provide up to date information on network conditions and constraints. These messages are accessible via the NCCDS active NAM web site. The Goddard Space Flight Center uses the NAMs as a means of letting customers know of any performance constraints associated with the TDRS spacecraft. OOOI is acquired differently in commercial aircraft than in general aviation aircraft Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System ACARS is available for commercial aircraft which delivers OOOI data using sensory data, but in the general aviation market some GPS Aircraft Tracking GPS aircraft tracking units are capable of delivering this information without using sensory data. What is it used for? OOOI can be very useful for aircraft operators in several ways. First, some GPS aircraft tracking devices have the ability to send notifications by e mail upon the OOOI events, therefore notifying an aircraft operator immediately upon leaving the gate, take off, touchdown and finally the arrival at the gate. These status updates keep the operator informed of expected arrival times and help with scheduling. Second, the reports and trip history generated by GPS aircraft tracking devices acts as proof of flight hours as required by law.
