Kaye Aldenhoven is an Australia n poet and teacher. In 1971 Kaye Aldenhoven moved from South Australia to Umbakumba on Groote Eylandt , Northern Territory . She then lived and taught at Yuendumu , Amoonguna , Alice Springs , Darwin, Northern Territory Darwin , Jabiru, Northern Territory Jabiru and was Principal of all three NT Area Schools at Jabiru in Kakadu, Alyangula on Groote Eylandt and Batchelor . These moves were important for the direction of her work. Her first book, In My Husband s Country , was a clear and deft response to country in a way that is peculiarly Territorian, as is her involvement in cross art performances of poetry, dance ritual, and textiles. In 1992 she won the Northern Territory Red Earth Literary Award. She has edited a number of anthologies and was included in artist s book anthology Terra Australis edited by Chris Mansell with work by artist Tommaso Durante . Her chapbook, Skin PressPress, 2004 extends Aldenhoven s engagement with and explores the conundrum of living in country. This is an important theme in non metropolitan Australian poetry which is not much taken up in the urbanised fringes. Poetically, Aldenhoven eschews overtly decorative language and aims for a clear and clarifying diction to illuminate her themes. Orphan date February 2009 Wilhelm of Herle born in Herle in Limburg Netherlands Dutch Limburg at an unknown date in the fourteenth century time and place of death unknown was a painter. According to the statements of deeds of that period he was active in Cologne from 1358 for some fifteen or twenty years. In 1370 he was paid for paintings that he had made for the liber juramentorum of the city. Also remains of fresco es from the town hall that are now preserved in the Wallraf Richartz Museum can certainly be traced to him. It is generally supposed that a painter, Wilhelm of Cologne, mentioned in the Limburg Chronicle as the best painter in German lands is Wilhelm of Herle, and it has been customary to attribute to him some of the best work in painting of early Cologne, although there is no absolute proof in any one case. His pupil and assistant was Wynrich of Wesel, and art historian Johann Matthias Firmenich Richartz, in particular, has ascribed to Wynrich pictures attributed to Wilhelm, although Aldenhoven and others have protested against this ascription. It is difficult to distinguish the work of Wilhelm from that of the school he founded. The most important paintings about which there is question are the Madonna with the Bean Blossom and its variant the Madonna with the Pea Blossom and the accompanying pictures on the wing panels of St. Catherine and St. Elizabeth Cologne and Nuremberg . Other paintings are the Christ on the Cross surrounded by a large number of saints Cologne , and St. Veronica Munich . Among the works of this school is also included the altar of St. Clare in the cathedral of Cologne, in which the Sacrifice of the Mass in the centre is surrounded by twelve scenes from the youth and Passion Christianity Passion of Christ. Multiple issues unreferenced December 2006 expert subject November 2008 orphan February 2009 Langweiler is an Archaeology archaeological site situated in the Merzbach Valley on the Aldenhoven er Plateau of western Germany . Systematic excavations have revealed evidence of 160 houses from eight distinct settlement sites, plus three enclosures and a cemetery, belonging to the period 5300 4900 BC. The site is a key region for understanding the nature of the earliest farming societies in west central Europe Linear Pottery culture Bandkeramik era . Settlement Types There are different types of settlements at Langweiler. The sites can be divided into three groupings on the basis of size single farmsteads, clusters of 2 3 farmsteads and II farmsteads. Each settlement had access to a portion of the valley floor, perhaps seasonal pasture for cattle and to the drier gravel terraces for farming . House Types The houses of Langweiler settlements fall into three types long, medium and small and these are present in the proportions 83 12 5. Medium and smaller houses are found only in the middle and later phases of the Langweiler settlement cycle. Most houses are oriented northwest southeast, perhaps in response to the prevailing wind direction in central and western Europe , but also indicating adherence to a long established cultural norm. Farming Economy The agriculture agricultural basis for these Bandkeramik settlements is reconstructed as small scale cereal cultivation in fixed plots adjacent to the settlements. This replaces an earlier model that proposed shifting slash and burn agriculture as the typical Bandkeramik farming mode. Land may have been cleared for agriculture by burning off the vegetation, but the abundance of weed seeds suggests that fields were in use for periods long enough for persistent weed communities to become established. Ritual Activities During the latest stage of the Merzbach Bandkeramik period, special enclosures were constructed which may have be ... more details
