The Bustamante Code also known in Spanish language Spanish as C digo de Derecho Internacional Privado is a treaty written in Spanish that intended to establish common rules for Private International Law in the Americas. The common ideas of the treaty were developed by Antonio S nchez de Bustamante y Sirven and solidified during the 6th Pan American Congress held in Cuba in 1928 with the Treaty of Havana being attached as an Annex to the Bustamante Code. The treaty was not widely accepted, the United States . withdrew in the middle of negotiations, Mexico and Colombia did not sign it, Argentina , Uruguay and Paraguay decided to abide by the rules of Montevideo Convention Montevideo with regard to private international law, and the countries to ratify did so countries with large reservations. The treaty is a set of rules which seek to regulate the legal relations of foreign trade among the countries party to the treaty. The previously mentioned reservations cover many of the States discretion on the use of this code in cases which contradicted the country s domestic legislation, so the actual purpose of it are distorted. He began with paintings and paper mache figures, inaugurating the first exhibit of his works at the Galeria Misracha in Mexico City in 1966. In the early 1970s, he traveled to Amsterdam, where he further developed his talents. After his return to Guadalajara, he established in 1975, along with other artists, the Family Workshop Studio in Tlaquepaque , Jalisco , Mexico. While Bustamante s works initially focused on painting and paper mache, his talents led, in the mid 1970s, to the creation of sculptures in wood and bronze, many reflecting animal themes. 1979 marked the inauguration of innovative furniture designs in wood and glass with bronze accents, currently available in distinctive patterns and motifs. The creation of ceramic sculptures in the mid 1980s provided avenues for the use of color and form in ways not previously explored. He was born in the town of Tingo, near the city of Arequipa , Peru. He joined the army to fight as a colonel during the war, he died on June 7, 1880, during the Battle of Arica along with 50 of the men that defended Arica . He was the Chief of Detail for Colonel Alfonso Ugarte under the garrison commanded by Colonel Francisco Bolognesi . He was one of the Peruvian officers who, on the eve of the battle, had gallantly rejected an offer to surrender the garrison to the Chilean army, and prompted Colonel Bolognesi to vow to the Chilean emissary that he would defend the garrison to the last cartridge.
