Baron Rich is a title in the Peerage of England . It was created in 1547 and was absorbed into the Earldom of Warwick in 1618. It became extinct in 1759. History The title was created in 1547 for Richard Rich, 1st Baron Rich Sir Richard Rich who was made Baron Rich, of Leez. Rich was a prominent lawyer and politician, who served as Solicitor General for England and Wales Solicitor General and Speaker of the British House of Commons Speaker of the House of Commons and was Lord Chancellor of England from 1547 to 1551. The Rich family descended from Richard Rich, a wealthy mercer occupation mercer who served as Sheriff of the City of London in 1441, and Richard was his great grandson and namesake. A Study in the Power of Money Today is a study by Ferdinand Lundberg conducted in 1968. In this study, Lundberg tries to bring his findings from America s Sixty Families 1937 up to date and into the field of elite studies. He critically examines recent studies in the concentration of wealth in the USA, only to conclude that the majority of the new rich are the inheritors of the big fortunes studied in the earlier book. But the rate of concentration has increased. The Lampman study 1962 , the Michigan study 1964 , and the Federal Banking lists 1962 all point to the fact that a little more than one percent of the households in the US control 65 of the invested capital . Lundberg concludes that this elite of little more than 500.000 people has a decisive influence in the economic system. Throughout, Lundberg relies on studies by others. Martin Rich October 8, 1905 spaced ndash October 23, 2000 , was a Germany German opera and symphony symphonic conducting conductor . Rich played the piano form the age of 5. He studied in Berlin under Franz Schreker . He conducted at places such as Bologna in Italy , and Grant Park Chicago Grant Park , in Illinois as well as the Metropolitan Opera . From 1970 to 1986 he headed the Philharmonic Symphony of Westchester . He was close friends with Leonard Bernstein . Rich is known particularly as the first conductor of the Piano Concerto No. 4 Prokofiev Fourth Piano Concerto by Sergei Prokofiev , together with one handed pianist Siegfried Rapp Berlin, 1956 . He often conducted The Rite of Spring . Besides being a symphonic conductor Rich was also a vocal coach for people such as Martina Arroyo . Rich claimed that he was born left handed but the adults around him forced him to learn to be right handed. Rich died in 2000, aged 95. He was survived by his wife, daughter, and two grandchildren.
