History The Corps was formed at the initiative of the Chief Polish Military Committee Naczelny Polski Komitet Wojskowy , a Polish faction in the revolutionary and split Russian Empire military. It was formed on 21 December 1917 in Soroca now in Moldavia , then a Bessarabia n region disputed by revolutionary Ukraine and Romania . The corps was formed primarily from Poles serving in the former Imperial Russian Army . It was a counterpart to the Polish I Corps in Russia formed in the north, in Belarus and the Polish III Corps in Russia in central Ukraine. It was commanded initially by General Sylwester Stankiewicz some sources also indicate it was briefly commanded by General W adys aw Glass . In February 1918 the corps merged with the Brigade II of the Polish Legions and by late March Stankiewicz and or Glass was replaced by the brigade commander, General J zef Haller . The Corps avoided major engagements, and concentrated on protecting the Polish inhabitants of the region. In March 1918 the corps had about 8,000 soldiers, and was equipped with weapons passed down from the 29th Army Corps Russian Empire Russian 29th Corps . At that time, the Treaty of Brest Litovsk was signed between Russia and the Central Powers . The Germans demanded that the Polish forces surrender. NicholasII of Saint Omer was the lord of half of Thebes, Greece from 1258 to 1294. He served as bailiff of the Principality of Achaea between 1287 and 1289. NicholasII Zorzi or Giorgi lang it Niccol was the Margrave of Bodonitsa , a member of the Zorzi family of the Republic of Venice , from 1410 to 1414. He was the last Venetian margrave to actually rule before the Ottoman Empire Ottoman Turkish conquest. He was the son of either Francis Zorzi Francis or Jacob Zorzi Jacob , brothers and successive margraves of Bodonitsa. He succeeded the latter on his death. He was a prisoner at the sourt of the Mehmed I Sultan Mehmet I in Adrianople , but was released in accordance with a treaty with Venice. He then ruled for a short while before his territory, which guarded the important pass of Thermopylae , was conquered on 20 June 1414. He then fled to Venice, but was restored to power by another treaty in 1416. However, he ceded his rights to Bodonitsa to his uncle Nicholas III Zorzi Nicholas III in return for the rectorate of Pteleon . The margravial title was purely nominal after that.
