Jos Pep n Bello Lasierra 13 May 1904 &ndash 11 January 2008 was a Spain Spanish intellectual and writer . Bello, born in Huesca , Aragon , was the son of engineer Severino Po ysuan Bello. His parents were friends of such Spanish intellectuals as Joaquin Costa , Santiago Ram n y Cajal , and Francisco Giner de los Rios . At the age of eleven, he participated in the Madrid artist promotion Residencia de Estudiantes Residencia de Estudiantes de Madrid where he met Salvador Dal , Luis Bu uel , Federico Garc a Lorca , and Rafael Alberti . Bello, who studied medicine, was a profound influence on his creative contemporaries. Even though some of his paintings, which he called Artists Without Deeds , were published, he was known mainly as the organizer of art events. He also managed a hydropower plant in the province of Huesca, operated a tannery in Burgos , and owned a drive in theatre in Madrid. None of these business ventures, however, was ultimately successful. Bello died in his sleep in Madrid at the age of 103. He was regarded as the last survivor of the Generation of 27 and the only member to survive into the 21st Century, but Francisco Ayala novelist , who died in 2009, later came to be regarded as the last surviving member of the generation. No footnotes date August 2010 Bello Mill was a mill dating from the 18th century on the river called the Lugar Water , on the estate of James Boswell Lord Auchenleck in Ayrshire , in Scotland . Before being rebuilt in the 1940s, it had three different sets of mill stones. It had one pair of millstones for rough grinding, and the two pairs of millstones for grinding oatmeal, The neighboring Bello Mill Cottage is famous for being the birthplace of William Murdoch , who was born in 1754. Murdoch invented gas lighting and did experiments on steam engines. Murdoch s father John Murdoch was tenant and millwright at Bello Mill, which he had taken over in 1754. In 1760, John Murdoch installed the first iron toothed gears used in a mill in Britain at Bello Mill. These gears were cast at Carron s Foundry in Falkirk . Bello Mill was at that point the most technically sophisticated mill in the UK. Bello Mill no longer is intact, but the gears are still visible. It was used until the 1960s. The roof is now missing and it is danger of falling into the river. The Bello Mill Cottage is still inhabited.
