Biography Anson was born in Bradford , Yorkshire , England . A right handed opening batsman, he scored 14 and 13 and took a catch in the game against Derbyshire County Cricket Club Derbyshire at Queen s Park, Chesterfield on the 14, 16 and 17 June 1924. Opening the batting with Percy Holmes , Anson helped add 40 for the first wicket before falling in the unusual manner of hit wicket to Townsend for 14. Yorkshire went on to post 169 thanks to Holmes 46. Derbyshire mustered just 74 in reply, and Yorkshire piled on the pressure with a second innings of 205, Anson again adding a useful 35 with Holmes. Anson also took a catch in the game. Derbyshire fought hard in their second innings, but were dismissed for 163 by Wilfred Rhodes and Macaulay to hand Yorkshire victory by 137 runs. Despite this success, Anson never played for the county again, as Herbert Sutcliffe returned to reclaim his opening spot, and scored 213 in the next match against Somerset County Cricket Club Somerset . Anson died in March 1969 in Selby , Yorkshire, at the age of 79. He was the first President of the New Zealand Society of Anaesthetists NZSA and a member of the NZ Committee of the Faculty of Anaesthetists. Anson was born in Wellington and educated at Wangurai Collegiate School. He went to Trinity College, Cambridge , and then to St Thomas s Hospital Medical School St Thomas s Hospital , whence he graduated in January 1916. He served in the Royal Navy in World War I , and in May 1917 was wounded in action. After the war, he worked as an anaesthetist in Birmingham before returning to New Zealand in 1922 to practise anaesthetics as a specialty &mdash the first New Zealander qualified to do so. His work has been likened to that of artists of the Color Field school that originated in DC in the 1950s. His work bears a strong Buddhist influence and frequently centers on meditative, abstract or primal themes.     Unreferenced date April 2009 Anson Weeks February 14, 1896, Oakland, California February 7, 1969, Sacramento, California was leader of a popular West Coast dance band in the late 1920s through the 1960s, primarily in San Francisco. His first recording was in Oakland on February 7, 1925, but it was not successful. He formed his first band in 1924 and had key hotel jobs in Oakland and Sacramento. By the late 1920s he was a popular regional orchestra and started recording for Columbia Records Columbia in 1928. In 1932, he signed with Brunswick Records Brunswick and recorded for them through 1935, during this time, his was one of their premier and most popular bands. He later did a session for Decca Records Decca in 1937. He garnerered favorable attention in late 1931 on the Lucky Strike Magic Carpet radio program. His vocalists included Art Wilson, Harriet Lee, Donald Novis , Bob Crosby , Carl Ravazza , Kay St. Germaine, and Bob Gage.
