He studied under Gerhard von K gelgen Kugelgen in Dresden , but went in 1823 to Italy and took up his quarters in Rome, where he followed, as a nondescript in life and art, his own peculiar style of colouring. In his desire to attain the charm of the colours of the great Venetians, a very faded picture of Venetian school art that school led him to the conviction that they painted their pictures entirely in grey before putting on the bright colours. Working in this way he obtained an extraordinary clearness of colour, a good example of which is seen in his Moses protecting the Daughters of Jethro, in the Alte Nationalgalerie Berlin Gallery .     Josef Anton Henne known as Anton Henne , born 22 July 1798 in Sargans , died 22 November 1870 in Wolfhalden Wolfhalden, Appenzell was a Swiss historian and politician active during the Restoration and Regeneration Switzerland formative phase of the Switzerland as a federal state modern Swiss state . Henne s paternal grandparents had immigrated to Sargans from Allg u , Bavaria. He entered Pf vers abbey at the age of 12 and became a novice at 17, but after a period of uncertainty, he left the monastery on 22 July 1817. He was further educated at Lucerne and at the universitites of University of Heidelberg Heidelberg and University of Freiburg Freiburg . In 1826 he became curator of the St. Gallen Abbey Library . In 1828, he published the first volume of a popular History of Switzerland covering the period up to 1400 . His aim was to present counter position to the historiography of Heinrich Zschokke . An open exchange between Zschokke and Henne took place in 1830, after Zschokke in his journal Schweizerboten published a damning recension of the weekly Der Freim thige edited by Henne from 1830 to 1838.     Orphan date February 2009 Josef Anton von Gegenbaur 6 March 1800, Wangen , W rttemberg 31 January 1876, Rome was an accomplished German historical and portrait painter. He studied first at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich Royal Academy in Munich under Robert von Langer, remaining in that city from 1815 to 1823. Among his productions there were two idyllic works, a Saint Sebastian and a Madonna and Child , altar piece for his native town. In 1823 the painter went to Rome, where he remained until 1826, studying especially the works of Raphael . He became successful as a fresco painter, and, on his return to W rttemberg, the king made him court painter and commissioned him to decorate the Royal Villa of Schloss Rosenstein. In 1829 Gegenbaur went again to Rome and worked on frescoes. During later residence in Stuttgart he was employed from 1836 to 1854 in decorating the royal Palace with sixteen scenes in fresco from the history of W rttemberg. These include incidents in the life of Eberhard II, Duke of W rttemberg Count Eberhard II of W rttemberg . In the same building are many of his oil paintings, among them being Two Shepherds , Adam and Eve after their expulsion from Eden , and Moses Striking the Rock .
