They played in the Central Hockey League 1963 1984 Central Hockey League from 1965 to 1969, and then from 1979 to 1981. From 1965 to 1969 they were a farm team of the National Hockey League NHL s Montreal Canadiens . The Canadiens pulled out and moved the team back to Montreal where they became the Montreal Voyageurs of the American Hockey League . Aside from cutting back on travel costs, the Canadiens cited low attendance, poor choice of dates in the local arena, and lack of practice time. The team was revived in 1979, after the Houston Aeros of the World Hockey Association folded. The team only lasted one and a half seasons before folding on January 8, 1981. In its day it was the most fashionable of the many great Adirondack hotels, patronized by American presidents, celebrities, and the power elite of the latter half of the 19th century. History During the nineteeth century Smith was born August 20, 1825, in Milton, Vermont . When he was 16, he left home and found work as a boatman on a canal boat on Lake Champlain in his spare time, he went hunting and fishing in the Adirondacks, which at that time was largely wilderness. In time he became known as a hunting and fishing guide in the Loon Lake franklin county, ny Loon Lake region. In 1848 he rented a house on Loon Lake that he ran as a small hotel, aided by his mother and father.
