Based on established customs and laws and now littered with later interpolations, the Book is an essential document in the economic history of Byzantium and the Mediterranean. Dating The book is traditionally dated to the reign of Leo VI the Wise 886 912 . However, whilst the first chapter concerning the entrance requirements to the college of notaries does probably date from Leo s reign Leo was renowned for recodifying and tidying up Roman law , it seems that the work itself like so many texts from this period was the product of gradual accumulation. 1. Apostolic Dataria

The Apostolic dataria was one of the five Ufficii di Curia curial offices in the Roman Curia . It was abolished by Pope Paul VI in 1967. History According to some authorities, among them Amydenus De officio et jurisdictione datarii necnon de stylo Datariae , the office of the dataria is of very ancient origin, but that it is not appears from the fact that the business which eventually fell to it was originally transacted elsewhere. The Dataria was entrusted, chiefly, with the concession of matrimonial dispensation s of external jurisdiction, and with the collation the abstract of conferring of benefice s reserved to the Holy See . To this double faculty was added that of granting many other indult s and graces, but these additions were made later. Until the time of Pope Pius IV matrimonial dispensations were granted through the Apostolic Penitentiaria and as to the collation of reserved benefices, that authority could not have been granted in very remote times, since the establishment of those reservations is comparatively recent although some vestige of reservations is found even prior to the twelfth century, the custom was not frequent before Innocent II , and only from the time of Pope Clement IV the reservation of benefices was adopted as a general rule c. ii, De pract. et dignit ... as about that of vice chancellor in the Apostolic Chancery . notability Books date September 2011 Apostolic Foundations is a book by the late Arthur Katz in which the author probed the attributes of Apostolic Christianity . First published in 1999 while Katz was still alive, the written work was culled largely from Katz s spoken messages on the subject spanning over 30 years of ministry. 1. Apostolic constitution

citations needed date January 2012 Canon Law for the 4th century text Apostolic Constitutions An apostolic constitution Latin constitutio apostolica is the highest level of decree issued by the Pope . The use of the term constitution comes from Latin language Latin constitutio , which referred to any important law issued by the Roman emperor , and is retained in church documents because of the inheritance that the canon law Catholic Church canon law of the Roman Catholic Church received from Roman law . By their nature, apostolic constitutions are addressed to the public. Generic constitutions use the title apostolic constitution , and treat on solemn matters of the church, such as the promulgation of laws or definitive teachings. The forms dogmatic constitution and pastoral constitution are titles sometimes used to be more descriptive as to the document s purpose. 1. Apostolic Pardon

unreferenced date October 2008 In the Roman Catholic Church Catholic Church , the Apostolic Pardon is an indulgence given for the remission of temporal punishment due to sin . The Apostolic Pardon is given by a priest , usually along with Viaticum i.e. reception of Communion by a dying person, see Pastoral Care of the Sick, USA numbers 184, 187, 195, 201 . It is not usually given as part of the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick . However if the Anointing of the Sick is given with Viaticum, in exceptional circumstances or an emergency, it may be given then. See Pastoral Care of the Sick, USA numbers 243, 265 Prior to the Second Vatican Council , the Apostolic Pardon was called the Apostolic Blessing. According to the church, a person who is properly disposed by being in the state of grace i.e., the person has committed no known and unconfessed mortal sins who receives the Apostolic Pardon gains the complete pardon of all temporal punishment due to sin that has already been forgiven by the reception of absolution and the doing of penance, i.e., a plenary indulgence. The Apostolic Pardon does not forgive sins by the act of absolution it deals only with the punishment purgation due for those sins that have already been sacramentally forgiven. However, the Sacrament of Penance, or Reconciliation, which does forgive sins, is usually administered along with the Apostolic Pardon as a part of the Last Rites. Form The current form of the Apostolic Pardon usually takes one of two forms Latin Ego facult te mihi ab Apost lica Sede trib ta, indulg ntiam plen riam et remissi nem mnium peccat rum tibi conc do, in n mine Patris, et F lii, et Sp ritus Sancti. Amen English By the authority which the Apostolic See has given me, I grant you a full pardon and the remission of all your sins ... form of the Apostolic Blessing is as follows Ego facultate mihi ab Apostolica Sede tributa, indulgentiam ... Filii, et Spirtus Sancti, Amen. By the Faculty which the Apostolic See has given me, I grant you ...   more details
