Infobox Anatomy Name Appendicularskeleton Latin skeleton appendiculare GraySubject GrayPage Image Appendicularskeleton diagram.svg Caption Appendicularskeleton diagram Image2 Caption2 Precursor System Artery Vein Nerve Lymph MeshName MeshNumber The Appendicularskeleton is composed of 126 bones in the human body. The word appendicular is the adjective of the noun appendage, which itself means a part that is joined to something larger. Functionally it is involved in locomotion Lower limbs of the axial skeleton and manipulation of objects in the environment Upper limbs . The appendicularskeleton is divided into six major regions 1 Pectoral Girdles 4 bones Left and right Clavicle 2 and Scapula 2 . 2 Arm and Forearm 6 bones Left and right Humerus 2 Arm , Ulna 2 and Radius bone Radius 2 Fore Arm . 3 Hands 54 bones Left and right Carpal 16 wrist , Metacarpal 10 , Proximal phalanges 10 , Middle phalanges 8 , distal phalanges 10 . 4 Pelvis 2 bones Left and right os coxae 2 ilium . 5 Thigh and leg 8 bones Femur 2 thigh , Tibia 2 , Patella 2 knee , and Fibula 2 leg . 6 Feet and ankles 52 bones Tarsus skeleton Tarsals 14 ankle , Metatarsals 10 , Proximal phalanges 10 , middle phalanges 8 , distal phalanges 10 . It is important to realize that through anatomical variation it is common for the skeleton to have many extra bones sutural bones in the skull, cervical ribs, lumbar ribs and even extra lumbar vertebrae The appendicularskeleton of 126 bones and the axial skeleton of 80 bones together form the complete skeleton of 206 bones in the human body. Unlike the axial skeleton, the appendicularskeleton is unfused. This allows for a much greater range of motion. ref Vizniak, N.A., 2008, Quick Reference Clinical Consultant Muscle Manual, Professional Health Systems Inc, Canada ref References references Bonesofskeleton Category Skeletal system fr Squelette appendiculaire ko ht Eskel t apendikil pt Esqueleto apendicular sq Gjymtyr t e poshtme t njeriut th ... more details

Charlie is a Neolithic skeleton of a three year old child found near the ancient stone circle of Avebury . Charlie was excavated from Windmill Hill, Avebury in the 1920s and is currently on display at the Alexander Keiller Museum . There is a certain amount of controversy surrounding this issue. The Council of British Druid Orders CoBDO have demanded that the skeleton be reburied where it was found, or as near as is practically possible, claiming that putting a skeleton in a museum as an attraction is disrespectful. The archaeological community fear that reburying Charlie will lead to a dangerous precedent being set. Historians have also argued that Charlie s skeleton should be kept in a museum so it is available for research. English Heritage and National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty The National Trust have held a public consultation on the future of Charlie . in April 2010 the decision was made to keep the skeleton on public view. The Skeleton Tank was an experimental prototype tank built in 1918 by the Pioneer Tractor Company, Winona, Minnesota . The objective of this prototype was to develop a lightweight vehicle capable of crossing wide Trench warfare trenches in a manner similar to the then conventional heavy United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland British tanks. However, unlike the British tanks with their fully enclosed chassis, the Skeleton Tank achieved the requisite lozenge shape by supporting its Caterpillar track tracks with a skeleton like framework formed from ordinary iron pipes joined by standard plumbing connections. Suspended between these track frames was an armored fighting compartment carrying a machine gun turret. This arrangement dramatically reduced the weight of the vehicle as compared to the larger British and France French tanks and while preserving the trench crossing capabilities of those machines, and there was a belief that most enemy bullets and cannon rounds would pass harmlessly through the structure ....
