Ardo or Ardonus , possibly short for Ardabastus , Ardabast died 720 721 was the last of all the Visigoths Visigothic kings of Hispania , reigning from 713 or, more probably 714, until his death. The Visigoth kingdom was already severely reduced in area and power due to the Umayyad conquest of Hispania Arab conquests of the previous three years when Ardo succeeded Achila II on the throne. They constitute the largest tribal group in Taraba State of Nigeria and form the predominant tribes found in Zing, Nigeria Zing , Yorro , Jalingo , Ardo Kola , Lau , Gassol , Bali and Gashaka , all of which are local government areas of the state. Mumuyes are also widely found in many parts of the neighbouring Adamawa State They occupy Mayo Belwa,Jada, Ganye, Toungo and some parts of Fufure and Yola North South local Government Areas in Adamawa State. Their major occupation is farming. In the north eastern states of Nigeria the Mumuyes are the Largest producers of yam. The Pan Zareta Handicap is an American Thoroughbred horse race run at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans, Louisiana , each winter. An Graded stakes race ungraded stakes, the Pan Zareta is a 6 furlong sprint race sprint open to Filly fillies and Mare horse mares four years old and up. The race offers a 100,000 purse. This race is named in honor of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame Hall of Fame racing mare, Pan Zareta who is buried in the infield of the Fair Grounds alongside another horse, Black Gold horse Black Gold . Both of these horses died at the track, Black Gold while racing, and Pan Zareta in her stall on Christmas Day. History In history historical records the village was first mentioned in 1248. Was created by combining villages Nyar and Ardo. Present name Ra any was established in 1948. The oldest building is st. Demeter churche from 1510. Geography The municipality lies at an altitude of 360 metres and covers an area of 11.369 km . It has a population of about 1445 people.
