File Arthurkylander.jpg thumb Arthur Kylander Arthur Arkadius Kylander February 16, 1892 1968 was a Finnish American folk musician, singer, song writer, mandolinist and member of the Industrial Workers of the World . Background Born in Lieto , Finland , Kylander moved to the United States at the age of 22 in 1914, where he became a migrant worker as a carpenter and in the logging industry. In 1925 he met his wife Julia Varila , a pianist and accordionist , and the two began performing together and touring. Career Kylander did recordings for Victor Records between 1927 and 1929 and published two song books called Comic Songs. After the Great Depression Depression , the Kylanders moved to Hollywood, California where Arthur worked as a butler and chauffeur. In 1943 they bought a convert 240 acre km2 sing on parcel of forested property where Arthur grew and sold Christmas trees. In 1964, Kylander was named the Outstanding Conservation Farmer of the Year. Kylander s most notable songs include Kulkuri Hobo Waltz , Muistojen Valssi Memories Waltz , and Suomalainen ja Sauna The Finn and the Sauna . Many of Kylander s songs deal with the hardships of the immigrant worker but have a strong sense of wit and humour. Some, like Kulkurin Valssi , are unique for the time period in that they openly discuss inter racial relationships in a positive way. Similar to Hiski Salomaa , Kylander s songs are sung in a mix of Finnish language Finnish and Finglish . Archbishop Arkadios II died 643 was the head of the Church of Cyprus during the 630s. He was a supporter of the Monothelitism formula also propounded by Patriarch Sergius I of Constantinople , Pope Honorius I , and Emperor Heraclius . Arkadios wrote an epistle supporting Monothelitism and disparaging its opponents, of which the chief then was Sophronius of Jerusalem . When Sophronius became Patriarch in 634, Sophronius sent a letter to Arkadios requesting him to call a synod . Arkadios invited Cyrus of Alexandria , as well as Sergius and Honorius. Kyros arrived himself, and so did representatives of Constantinople and Rome. Then Arkadios invited Sophronius. Sophronius and his prot g Maximus the Confessor each sent representatives of his own. When the Jerusalmite delegation arrived, Arkadios received the guests with honor. The next morning, all 46 of the dignitaries haggled over the details. The anti Monothelites agreed upon a common letter, but Arkadios declared its suggestions to be anathema. Sophronius asked him, What then do you want that this should reach the emperor? Arkadius retorted, It is because of your lack of belief, and because of the false doctrine you and your companions hold, in that you resist the truth of Monothelitism . Cyrus then cut short the debate and ordered Sophronius s letter to issue to the Emperor Heraclius. Heraclius promptly sided with Monothelism and issued an Edict to all the metropolitan sees probably the Ecthesis . When this Edict arrived in Cyprus, Arkadios added his signature to the list.
