During the Albanian communist era, only people from the USSR were allowed to enter the country ruled by Enver Hoxha s communist regime. Other people were allowed from China, a country with a similar regime. Most of the people with origin from USSR were actually Russians, Ukrainians and Armenians, the latter having settled in the country as a result of the Union s penetration in the Warsaw pact countries. Most of the Armenians having come to Albania that period were soldiers serving the communist regime, or their families, having followed them. The population rate of Armenians in Albania was then estimated to 500 700 people. The cities with concentrated Armenian population were Tirana , Durr s and Vlora . Today, the Armenian population in Albania is estimated up to 750 people, according to many sources, such as the country s internal service, but all the information is associated with estimations and not gathered data.
