  1. Louis Lully

Louis Lully Paris, 4 August 1664 1 April 1734 was a French musician and the eldest son of Jean Baptiste Lully . Nearly disinherited by his father following dissolute behaviour and imprisonment, Louis did not have the brilliant career anticipated for him, not only because of his behaviour but also for lack of talent. What success he had as an opera composer was mostly down to works written in collaboration with others. For example, he collaborated with his brother Jean Louis Lully Jean Louis and Pierre Vignon on Z phire et Flore ballet, 1688 , and with Marin Marais on Alcide trag die lyrique, 1693 . The one work he composed on his own, Orph e trag die lyrique, 1690 , was badly received when it was performed, though historians find it important for the prominence given in it to Recitative Accompagnato accompanied recitative La Gorce 2001 . 1. Jean-Louis Lully

Jean Louis Lully 24 September 1667 23 December 1688 was a French musician and composer. He was born in Paris, the youngest son of Jean Baptiste Lully . On 8 June 1687 he succeeded his father as surintendant and compositeur de la musique de la chambre du roi and he was nominated for another of his father s posts, Director of the Opera. Because he was only 20 years old, however, the decision was postponed and was never ratified before he died the following year. His skill as a composer is unknown, in part because most of the works bearing his name were collaborations, written with Pierre Vignon. These included the Trag die en musique lyric tragedy Z phire et Flore 1688 , to which his older brother Louis Lully Louis also contributed, and an Idylle performed at Anet. He died in Paris La Gorce 2001 . References La Gorce, J r me de. 2001. Lully 4 Jean Louis Lully .
