Fr hlingsrauschen , Op. 32, No. 3 Rustle of Spring is a solo piano piece written by the Norway Norwegian composer Christian Sinding 1856 1941 in 1896. It is Sinding s most popular piece of music indeed, it is the only piece of his that most musicians could name. Bearing the expression marking agitato , much of the piece is played with a rapid arpeggio in the right hand part, while the left hand carries the melody. The work s title indicates that its sense of constant motion is symbolic of the excited restlessness of springtime. The Polonaise in C sharp minor, Op. 26 No. 1 and the Polonaise in E flat minor, Op. 26 No. 2 were composed by Fr d ric Chopin in 1836 . Both of them were dedicated to Josef Dessauer . Both Polonaises require considerable technique and stamina to be performed well. Op. 26 No. 1 The Polonaise opens with a fiery Allegro appasionato in C sharp minor , the primary theme preceded by descending octaves. The section climaxes with a series of virtuosic arpeggio figures which give way to a tender melody. This is then followed by a repetition of the theme. After this opening section there is a new theme introduced in the enharmonic D flat major . This new theme is then developed and followed by a new left hand melody, which increases the tension until a repeat of the meno mosso . This polonaise is very diverse in textures, dynamics, and moods, and sometimes is considered one of the best polonaises by Chopin. Trois novelette s Three novelettes are three short pieces for piano composed by Francis Poulenc . The first two novelettes, in C major and B flat minor , written in 1927 and 1928 respectively, were originally published together, with the third novelette in E minor written in 1959. These novelettes demonstrate multi layered piano writing. Novelette in C major 1927 is dedicated to Virginie Li nard, a family friend, also the dedicatee of his piano suite Les soir es de Nazelles 1930 36 . The piece features a neo classical song like melody interrupted by a central contrasting section. Novelette in B flat minor 1928 is similar in ways to a scherzo, dedicated to Poulenc s friend and critic, Louis Laloy . Novelette in E minor 1959 is based on Manuel de Falla Manuel de Falla s time signature 7 8 theme from El amor brujo 1916 , simplified by Poulenc in 3 8 time, interestingly for Poulenc, without a contrasting section. This piece was dedicated to his close friend R. Douglas Gibson, employing fluid arpeggio figures. Poulenc premiered his first two novelettes at a concert in Paris on June 10, 1928.
