Unreferenced date September 2009 St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic High School is a centre of secondary education in Ashton in Makerfield in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan , Greater Manchester , England. It has around 1200 pupils and is both a Leading Edge school and a specialist Specialist school Technology and Music College . It is also the first Secondary School in the Wigan Borough to receive the Green Flag Award. It is in the Catholicism Catholic parish of St Oswald s with most pupils coming from Haydock English Martyrs Catholic Primary School Haydock, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, Hindley, St Oswald s Catholic Primary School, Ashton, and other schools in the boroughs of Wigan and St Helens, Merseyside St Helens . He moved to Soho Square , London from Winston, County Durham when about twenty years of age, and was employed by John Cary , the engraver and William Faden. He became Hydrographer to the Prince of Wales ca. 1810 and subsequently to the King in 1820. In January 1790 he made himself famous by his large chart of the world on Mercator projection . notability date June 2010 Cheryl H. Arrowsmith is a Canadian based structural biologist and is the Chief Scientist at the Toronto laboratory of the Structural Genomics Consortium . Her contributions to protein structural biology includes the use of protein NMR NMR and X ray crystallography to pursue structures of proteins on a proteome wide scale. She received her Doctor of Philosophy Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Toronto in 1987 and post doctoral training at Stanford University working with Professor Oleg Jardetzky. One of her areas of interest is the tumour suppressor p53 and related proteins. Her current research is to determine the Protein Structure 3 dimensional structures of human proteins of therapeutic relevance to diseases such as cancer , malaria and diabetes metabolic disorders by structural proteomics .
