The museum is housed in a building known as the Rettig palace, originally built in 1928. Ars Antiqua Austria is an early music group founded in Linz in 1995 with the specific aim of performing Austria n baroque music on period instruments. The music at the imperial court in Vienna during the baroque era was influenced by Italy Italian and France French musical forms as well as by Spain Spanish court music. Elements of Music of Eastern Europe Slavic and Hungarian people Hungarian folk music also mingled with alpine sounds in Austrian baroque music.
