AstorreIIIManfredi June 20, 1485 June 9, 1502 was lord Faenza , in northern Italy , from 1488 to 1501. He was born in Faenza, the son of Galeotto Manfredi . He succeeded his father in the lordship of Faenza in 1488 at the age of three. In 1501 he was deposed by Cesare Borgia and sent to Rome . Galeotto Manfredi 1440 May 31, 1488 was an Italian condottiero and lord of Faenza . Born in Faenza, Romagna , he was the son of Astorre II Manfredi . In 1477, after a failed attempt of military conquest, he succeeded as lord of Faenza to his brother Carlo II Manfredi Carlo , taking advantage of a rebellion against him. In his youth years he had fought under the famous condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni for the Republic of Venice . In 1483 he was made commander of the Republic of Florence Florentine Army , and fought in the Wars in Lombardy . Unreferenced date October 2006 Barbara Manfredi 1444 1466 was the wife of Pino III Ordelaffi , lord of Forl Italy . She was born in Faenza , current Emilia Romagna , to Astorre II Manfredi , seignior of that city. At the age seven she was bethrothed to the powerful Pino III Ordelaffi , who married her in 1462. The following year Pino became ill. His brother Francesco IV Ordelaffi Francesco Cecco was suspected of poisoning him, but the Forlivese lord survived. However, when in 1466 Francesco fell ill in turn, and Barbara attempted to poison him. Cecco was in the end assassinated by one of his officers, and Pino could be the sole lord of the city, maintaining that position thanks the support of Venice . However, when Barbara suddenly died, the jealous Pino was accused by Astorre of poisoning her. Biography He was born in Perugia , the son of Gentile Baglioni, a member of a condottieri family of central Italy. At the death of his father, he was first at Tagliacozzo under Ascanio Colonna , and then to Citt di Castello where he was introduced to the military career by his uncle Alessandro Vitelli. In 1540 he fought under the latter at Budapest Pest against the Turks. In 1550 he was on a frigate in a Christian fleet led by Carlo Sforza, to fight against the northern African raider Dragut . In August Baglioni was at the siege of Mahdia with Giordano Orsini . In 1556 1558 he was hired by the Republic of Venice , for which he supervised building of fortifications in the Venetian mainland and was governor of Verona . In 1569 he was named governor of Nicosia in Cyprus . In 1570, when a war between Venice and the Ottoman Empire was upcoming, he revised the fortifications of Cerines and Famagusta , of which Baglioni became governor, in collaboration with the city s rector Marcantonio Bragadin . In the same year the island was Ottoman Venetian War 1570 1573 invaded by the Turks. Baglioni launched several counterattacks but was finally forced with his troops in the walls of Famagusta. ManfrediIII Chiaramonte died November 1391 was a history of Sicily Sicilian nobleman. Of French origins, he was given the County of Modica , then one of the most powerful fiefs in the Kingdom of Sicily , in 1377. He was also made lord of Trapani , Agrigento , Bivona , Licata , Castronovo di Sicilia Castronovo , Lentini , Palma di Montechiaro and Mussomeli , where he built a castle which still bears his name. Manfredi was governor of Messina and, after having liberated the island of Jerba from Arab pirates, he was made also lord of it. He held is court in the Palazzo Chiaramonte of Palermo . Despite having obtained his lands by the House of Aragon Aragonese Kings of Sicily, he usually sided for the Capetian House of Anjou Angevines who held the rival Kingdom of Naples . In 1354 Manfredi was besieged in Lentini by the Aragonese troops of Artale I Alagona the latter was able to capture it by treason only in 1360. Manfredi was captured and imprisoned in Catania however he later escaped and regained his possessions. His daughter Costanza married the future King Ladislaus of Naples in Gaeta in 1389. At the death of king Frederick III, Manfredi became viceroy and tried to defend the throne of Sicily by the illegitimate king Martin I of Sicily Martin I . Manfredi Chiaramonte died in Palermo in 1391. His son Andrea Chiaramonte, governor of Palermo, was beheaded in 1392 by Martin I of Aragon after the fall of Palermo. Giovanni Manfredi 1324 1373 was lord of Faenza from 1341 until 13 September 1356, as well as of numerous other minor fiefs in Romagna . He was born in Imola , the illegitimate son of Riccardo Manfredi , and fought for Mastino II della Scala against John of Bohemia . In 1351 he was hired by Bernab Visconti in his war against Bologna and the Papal forces, and was excommunicated the following year. In 1356, after a long resistance together with his ally Francesco II Ordelaffi of Forl , he was forced to surrender Faenza to the Papal commander, Cardinal Gil de Albornoz . In 1361 he rebelled again, but his conjures to conquer Faenza and Imola were discovered. He died at Pistoia in 1373.
