  1. Open architecture

Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 Open architecture is a type of computer architecture or software architecture that allows adding, upgrading and swapping components. For example, the IBM PC and Apple IIe have an open architecture, whereas the Apple IIc and Amiga 500 computers have a closed architecture . In a closed architecture, the hardware manufacturer chooses the components, and they are not generally upgradable by the end user. Open architecture is also beginning to be pushed to extend into the context of Architectural Design of Buildings by the group Architecture for Humanity . The group has developed a project called the Open Architecture Network which aims to bring the discipline of Architecture away from the closed format which is promoted by firms that choose not to share their work. Open architecture allows potential users to see inside all or parts of the architecture without any proprietary constraints. Typically, an open architecture publishes all or parts of its architecture that the developer or integrator wants to share. The open business processes involved with an open architecture may require some license agreements between entities sharing the architecture information. 1. Operations architecture

Please note that the term operations architecture is also used in an aerospace context. This use of the term is not discussed in the following article. Operations architecture allows the ongoing support and management of Information technology IT services infrastructure of an company enterprise . The IT infrastructure of an enterprise will typically comprise many different systems and platforms, often in different geographic locations. Operations architecture ensures that these systems perform as expected by centrally unifying the control of operational procedures and automating the execution of operational tasks. It also reports the performance of the IT infrastructure. The implementation of an operations architecture consists of a dedicated set of tools and processes which are designed to provide centralisation and automation. 1. Dataflow architecture

Dataflow architecture is a computer architecture that directly contrasts the traditional von Neumann architecture or control flow architecture. Dataflow architectures do not have a program counter , or at least conceptually the executability and execution of instructions is solely determined based on the availability of input arguments to the instructions. Although no commercially successful general purpose computer hardware has used a dataflow architecture, it has been successfully implemented in specialized hardware such as in digital signal processing , network routing , graphics processing and more recently in data warehousing . It is also very relevant in many software architectures today including database engine designs and parallel computing frameworks.
