  1. Bill (weapon)

Ltd month November year 1995 Refend DEFAULTSORT Bill Weapon Category Medieval pole weapons Category ...Image Long handled bill hook.jpg thumb 250px A common variety of bill. Variants may have projections on the back of the main blade. The bill is a polearm weapon used by infantry in medieval Europe. The bill is similar in size, function and appearance to the halberd , differing mainly in the hooked blade form. Other terms for the bill include English bill , bill hook or bill guisarme . Design Derived originally from the agricultural billhook , the bill consisted of a hooked chopping blade with several pointed projections mounted on a staff. The end of the cutting blade curves forward to form a hook, which is the bill s distinguishing characteristic. In addition, the blade almost universally had one pronounced spike straight off the top like a spear head, and also a hook or spike mounted on the reverse side of the blade. There were many types of bill. English bills tended to be relatively short, with broad chopping heads, while Italian bills ronche often had very long thrusting points. The English distinguished between several varieties of bill, including the black, brown, and forest bills, but the differences between them are currently not fully understood. 1. Anti-personnel weapon

Globalize date December 2010 Unreferenced date December 2007 An anti personnel weapon is one primarily used to incapacitate person people , as opposed to attacking structures or vehicles. Anti personnel weapons were made and used since the discovery of weapons for hunting Citation needed date December 2011 . The development of defensive fortification and combat vehicle s gave rise to weapons designed specifically to attack them, and thus a need to distinguish between those systems and ones intended to attack people. For instance, an anti personnel land mine landmine will explode into small and sharp splinters that tear flesh but have little effect on metal surfaces, while anti tank mine s have considerably different design, using much more explosive to effect damage to armored fighting vehicle s. Many modern weapons systems can be employed in different roles, for example a tank gun tank s main gun can fire armor piercing ammunition in the anti tank role, high explosive ammunition in the anti structure role and fragmentation weaponry fragmentation shells in the anti personnel role. There are also more exotic classes of weapons, such as neutron bomb s, chemical weapon chemicals , and biological weapon s which are only designed to attack people. As there is greater international criticism of them, they are therefore rarely used. These are not generally referred to as anti personnel weapons, but by their own names or group terms e.g., NBC weapons which serve to get them specifically banned. Such weapons often create much collateral damage and may affect large numbers of civilians.
