He was a member of the Ontario New Democratic Party caucus in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario . Bain won the seat in the Ontario general election, 1975 1975 provincial election by defeating incumbent Ed Havrot of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario Progressive Conservatives . A minority government led by Tory Premier Bill Davis was returned.
