George Baptist 7 January 1808 &ndash 11 May 1875 was a logging contractor, born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada in 1832. Baptist first lived in Dorchester County, Quebec where he found employment in the sawmills there. These were owned by John Caldwell seigneur Sir John Caldwell and gave him valuable experience for his future endeavours. In 1846, he bought a sawmill in the Saint Maurice region which had been owned by Edward Greive , a member of the 2nd Parliament of the Province of Canada . Greive had died in 1845 and the mill was abandoned. Shortly after his purchase, the government became heavily involved in the timber industry. By 1852, a commission led by tienne Parent was proposing a policy of crown lands grants. Trois Rivi res, Quebec Trois Rivi res became the centre of this increased activity and George Baptist one of the important businessmen. Baptist brought innovation and prosperity to the lumber industry and it made him a prime example of the bourgeois class of Trois Rivi res. History Strobelight Records was founded to release their first album , Different Degrees of Empty , in 2003, and all of the band s following albums have been released by the record label . In 2004, the band toured Europe for the first time to support their second album, Beggars Would Ride . The band played at the Wave Gotik Treffen music festival in May 2005. Frank Vollmann relocated to Berlin in 2006, joining long time comrades Fez Wrecker Bonniwell Music Machine, Fuzztones and Benn Ra Hatesex , ex Diva Destruction , both of whom had coincidentally played in early incarnations of Frank the Baptist in San Diego in 1997 1998. East Berliner Phantomas joined on drum s, and the new line up debuted at The Villa in Leipzig on Friday 13, 2006 . In November 2006, the band went into Studio Wong in Berlin Kreuzberg and recorded the band s latest album, The New Colossus .
