  1. Effects loop

Unreferenced date December 2009 An effects loop is a series of audio effects unit s, connected between two points of a signal path usually between the pre amp and audio amplifier power amp stages of an amplifier circuit, although occasionally between two pre amp stages. The two principal uses of effects loops are in recordings and in instrument amplifiers. There are two main advantages of an effects loop. The first is that generally effects sound clearer and are more pronounced when the input signal is sent through a preamplifier prior to being affected. In addition to this, the tone of a guitar amplifier is generally more defined if the guitar is going direct into the input of the preamplifier. The second advantage is to match Electrical impedance impedances of equipment. For example, most guitar rack equipment works better at line level, and not instrument level. By placing the effects after the preamp, signal loss due to impedance mismatch is avoided. Most guitarists use floor pedal effects between the guitar and the amplifier, or they use rack effects through the amplifier effects loop. Recently, when date December 2011 amplifier manufacturers have been including a level gain control with the effects loops to allow for the use of floor pedals through the effects loop rather than in line between the guitar and amplifier. This allows for more tonal control of the amplifier. 1. Valuation effects

Valuation Effects is a term in economics . Valuation Effects of a country are the changes in the value of assets it holds abroad, minus the changes in the value of domestic assets held by foreign investors. Valuation Effects The traditional balance of payment identity ignores valuation effects, only recognizes that changes in the net foreign assets are fully captured by the current account . The new balance of payment identity, however, considers the role of asset price changes and valuation effects. Changes in the NFA equal the current account plus valuation effects. math begin align mbox Change in NFA & mbox Current Account mbox Valuation Effects end align math Valuation Effects and the U.S. s Current Account Deficits Valuation effects are increasingly important for the U.S. in the last two decades, given a dramatic, sharp rise in international cross country portfolio holdings. For the U.S., valuation effects are offsetting its current account deficits and therefore mitigating the decline of its net foreign assets . The U.S. during 1994 2007 accumulated more than US 5 trillions in current account deficits. This figure will be rising at least in 2009 and 2010. The phenomenon understandably raises a lot of concerns about the size of the U.S. external debts, because a high, unsustainable external debt will result in painful debt service and or sharp depreciation of the dollar. New evidence however suggests that while the U.S. has been experiencing large, persistent current account deficits, the assets U.S. investors hold overseas are gaining more in value compared to the value of U.S. assets held by foreign investors. The positive valuation effects represent financial gains for the U.S. some attribute this phenomenon to exorbitant privilege . Economists at the Federal Reserve estimated that during 1994 2007, the U.S. valuation effects in stocks and bonds are about 1.2 trillion, about 22 of the U.S. total current account deficits ref name fed1 http www.federalreserve.gov ...   more details

  1. Effects cymbal

Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 Drum kit components An effects cymbal is a cymbal used in a drum kit for a special effect or accent. Effects cymbals include splash cymbal s, china cymbal s and many other less common types. This classification is widely accepted but enigmatic. When pang and swish cymbal s are used as ride cymbal s they are not considered effects cymbals, despite their exotic tone. On the other hand, the most common six piece cymbal setup consists of hi hats , ride cymbal , two crash cymbal s of slightly different sizes and possibly weights, one splash and one china type , so effects cymbals must be considered a standard part of an extended drum kit. Varieties Splash cymbals main splash cymbal Splash Cymbals range from 6 12 . Traditional splash cymbals are relatively quiet and don t last for long, but have a high pitch sound. China cymbals main china cymbal China Cymbals range from 12 26 . They are one of the loudest cymbals for the drum kit. Where you hit the china makes a huge difference to its sound. They are basically a smaller version of a Chinese gong where its name originates from . China cymbals can be used up side down to produce a cleaner noise. When used the right way up, china cymbals produce more attack. 1. Partner effects

Globalize date June 2010 Partner effects refer to the ways in which a Marriage spouse or consensual mate influences the life of their significant other. More specifically, the effect a partner has on another s career and overall occupational status. In the past, less research had been done to observe the effects of spousal education and status position on one another because it had been assumed that the wife would adopt the husband s status. Over the past few decades, however, opportunity for women in the workplace has increased dramatically giving them a larger role in overall family income and status. Women s expanded role has brought about many changes in the opportunities for families. ref name De Graaf http www.blackwellreference.com.libproxy.lib.unc.edu subscriber tocnode?id g9781405124331 chunk g978140512433125 ss1 274 De Graaf, Paul M. Strong crossover Strong crossover SCO refers to the restriction on possible binding or coreference found between certain phrases and pronouns, as below 3 Who sub i sub does he sub i sub love t sub i sub ? 4 He sub i sub loves each boy sub i sub . In 3 , the object interrogative word wh phrase who is said to have crossed over the subject pronoun he in this configuration, the individuals picked out by he cannot covary with those selected by who that is, he cannot be bound by the quantifier associated with who . The same set of data found with quantifiers, as in 4 , has often been claimed to be due to a covert movement of the quantifier phrase at a more abstract level of syntactic representation such as Logical Form LF . There is also evidence that Focus constituents exhibit crossover effects Cf. Drubig 1994 . Crossover effects were originally discovered by Paul Postal in 1971 ref Postal, Paul. 1971. Crossover phenomena. ref the division into weak and strong is due to Tom Wasow , whose dissertation describes the fact that for many speakers, the restriction on binding is felt to be stronger in cases like 3 and 4 than ...   more details

  1. Solvent effects

In chemistry , solvent effects is the group of effects that a solvent has on chemical reactivity. Solvents can have an effect on solubility, stability and reaction rates and choosing the appropriate solvent allows for Thermodynamic versus kinetic reaction control thermodynamic and kinetic control over a chemical reaction. Effects on solubility A Solution solute dissolves in a solvent when it forms favorable interactions with the solvent. This dissolving process all depends upon the Gibbs free energy free energy change of both solute and solvent.
