Designed by Peabody and Stearns for Pierre Lorillard IV in the Queen Anne style architecture in the United States Queen Anne style , construction began in 1877 and was completed in 1878. The landscaping was designed by Ernest Bowditch . The Breakers was notable for its high tower and steeply gabled roof forms. The house was sold to Cornelius Vanderbilt II in October 1885, who rehired Peabody and Stearns to remodel the building. The brick and shingle structure was destroyed by fire in 1892, and Vanderbilt replaced it with the more famous The Breakers house designed by Richard Morris Hunt . A detached Cottage used as a children s playhouse was also designed by Peabody and Stearns and built with the mansion in 1877. Breakers Stadium was an Australia n stadium , located in Newcastle, New South Wales . It was the former home of the Newcastle Breakers Football Club, who played in the National Soccer League until 2000. It was also the home ground of the short lived Hunter Mariners rugby league team who participated in the only season of Super League Australia Super League in 1997. It held 11,000 people, with seating for 4,000. The main grandstand includes corporate facilities, and with a smaller grandstand on the other side which has more seats and a TV broadcast box. The rest of the ground is surrounded by a grass hill. In the mid 1990s, sports manufacturer Topper sports Topper sponsored both the team and the ground, and was known as Topper Stadium . When the company went into administration, it withdrew its sponsorship, and it reverted to its original name. Record Breakers was a United Kingdom British children s TV show, themed around world records and produced by the BBC and originally presented by Roy Castle with twin brothers Norris McWhirter and Ross McWhirter . It was broadcast on BBC One BBC1 from 15 December 1972 to 21 December 2001. Producers of the series over the years were, Alan Russell its creator , Michael Forte, Eric Rowan, Greg Childs , Annette Williams and Jeremy Daldry. The closing theme was Dedication , performed by Roy Castle, who broke at least three world records on the show himself. As well as interviews with people who held British or World records, early editions of the programme would include a feature in which the studio audience would test the McWhirter brothers on their almost infallible knowledge of records, and the climax of each show would usually be a world record attempt in the studio.
