Newbury s RCA debut heavily featured songs that had been made into hits by other artists, and there isn t much difference between that set and this one. Newbury largely disowned his RCA recordings, considering 1969 s Looks Like Rain his true debut, and this album bears little stylistic similarity to anything else in his catalog. Sings His Own substitutes Harlequin Melodies tracks Here Comes The Rain, Baby, How Many Times Must The Piper Be Paid For His Song, Mister Can t You See, and Harlequin Melodies, for The Queen, Sunshine, and Got Down On Saturday. As with the preceding album, many of these songs would be heavily covered by other artists, and Newbury himself would reinterpret Sweet Memories, Sunshine, and Good Morning, Dear on his 1973 album Heaven Help The Child . There is some debate about whether the versions of the seven duplicated songs from Harlequin Melodies are different recordings from the original album. However, most CD versions add the new Sings His Own songs as bonus tracks to the complete Harlequin Melodies album. The book consists of short stories and poems, and line drawings, often surrealism surreal and always nonsensical. It is notable in that it was the first solo The Beatles Beatle project in any form. It was followed in 1965 by A Spaniard in the Works . Lennon was adept at Free association psychology free association and improvisation in his linguistic explorations, which can be seen in both his prose writing and a portion of his lyrics. Use of puns, near homonym s, bizarre imagery, disconnected narrative threads and references, creative misspellings, and abrupt, unresolved conclusions challenge the reader to either find meaning, or bring their own meaning to the text. It can be inferred that Lennon intended no deep meaning, but rather wanted to demonstrate his free form creative abilities as well as his sense of humor. The book was also transformed into a play, co authored with Victor Spinetti , who directed, at the Royal National Theatre National Theatre , premi ring on 18 June 1968, at the Old Vic . Each In His Own Way concerns the production of a play based on real goings on the scandal of the artist Giorgio Salvi s suicide on the eve of his marriage, committed when he discovered that his fianc e, the actress Delia Morello, had begun a short lived affair with Salvi s brother in law Michele Rocca, is ostensibly based on events concerning the sculptor La Vela, the actress Amelia Moreno, and Baron Nuti. The people in question have come separately to see the play to determine if it is really based on the real events. The play begins in medias res , with the characters discussing Delia. Two characters, Doro Palegari and Francesco Savio, debate her rationale was it a well intentioned move to break off a marriage that would have been a mistake, or was it spite against Salvi? By the end of Act I, Moreno and Nuti have independently confirmed that the play is based on their story, and Moreno wishes to stop it from going on. However, it continues, and Act II shows Rocca s arrival to tell Delia that he has realized their mutual hatred is concealed love she rejects him and they fight, but then she realizes he is right, and they embrace. 1. Only A Fool Breaks His Own Heart

Refimprove date November 2010 Only A Fool Breaks His Own Heart is a song that was composed in Brooklyn New York in 1964 by Norman Bergen and Shelly Coburn in response to a request by United Artists Music who was looking for songs for British duo Chad & Jeremy . Going for a British sound, Bergen started with a chord progression based on The Beatles I Want To Hold Your Hand and Coburn added a lyric. The writers did not receive the usual 25 or 50 advance, but the company did pay for a one hour demo recording which took place with studio players including Frank Owens piano and Kenny Karen vocals . The session ended early so producer Ken Lauber spent the final ten minutes changing the original uptempo concept to a ballad approach. He asked Karen to do his best Jerry Butler impression, and asked Owens to play the way he had on the Dionne Warwick records that piano part is still copied today on many of the newer versions of the song. The next day, at Coburn s suggestion, the writers took the demo to Hy Weiss at Old Town Records for jazz singer Arthur Prysock . Old Town used the demo track, added Prysock s vocal plus strings arranged by Mort Garson , and it became the next single. Success Overseas The record received easy listening airplay but not much in the way of sales. However, the song took off overseas through cover versions in the Caribbean Islands including 1 calypso singer Mighty Sparrow , and a Finnish translation by Juha Vainio as Muisto Vain j , causing a 1 recording by Jouko and Kosti.
