It is an outdoor concert bandshell completed in 1964 and dedicated May 1, 1965. The facility was a gift from Russell Games Slayter Games Slayter and his wife Marie. Features The natural Amphitheatre amphitheater created by Slayter Hill can hold an estimated 20,000 people. Architect Joseph Baker used Stonehenge in England as a basis for the concept of Slayter Center. The 200 ton concrete roof is suspended by stainless steel cables from a tall steel tripod and the broad stage can seat an orchestra of more than a hundred. Below the stage are a rehearsal room, dressing rooms and storage facilities. Slayter Center is home to the Purdue Jazz Bands. On the morning of home football games, Slayter Center becomes the site of a pep rally known as Thrill on the Hill. The Purdue All American Marching Band performs upbeat tunes showcasing music from their half time show for the day, plus other selections from the season s repertoire. Fans can meet and get autographs from the Purdue Cheerleaders and mascot Purdue Pete , or check out the Boilermaker Special before heading to Ross Ade Stadium with the band for the pre game.     Goldenrod Records was a record label formed by Tod Swank in 1991 in music 1991 in San Diego , California to release the first 7 record by Custom Floor , a band consisting of skateboarders Garry Davis , Phil Esbenshade , and Miki Vuckovich . After the release of the Custom Floor record, Swank s other project, Foundation Skateboards, gained some financial momentum, and Goldenrod was put on hold. Swank s friend Mark Waters , an employee at Lou s Records at the time, and also a photographer and writer in the skateboarding world, was looking to start a record label and asked Swank for advice. A partnership was born and the no rules for records idea continued. The company were listed as Engineers, Ironfounders, Boilermaker Boiler Makers & General Machinists. They later moved to Vulcan Works, Vulcan Street, Humberstone Road, Leicester . Expansion Between 1876 and 1878 a new works, Vulcan Foundry, was developed at the side of the Midland Railway mainline. He enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force AIF in World War II , serving in the Middle East , New Guinea , Morotai and Borneo from 1941 to 1945. He married Gloria Kenning on 16 June 1941, with whom he had two children.     Robert James Bob Gibbs born 3 November 1946 is a former Australian politician. He was a Australian Labor Party Labor member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1977 to 1999, representing Electoral district of Wolston Wolston until 1992 and Electoral district of Bundamba Bundamba thereafter. Born in Brisbane , Gibbs was a boilermaker before his election and was an organiser for the Miscellaneous Workers Union and the Australian Labor Party . He was Assistant State Secretary of the party from 1974 to 1976. Following his election he moved directly to the Labor front bench, serving as spokesman for various portfolios until the party won government in 1989. He was minister for Tourism, Sport and Racing in the Wayne Goss Goss Government, moving to Primary Industries and Racing in July 1995. In Opposition he continued in the same portfolio and was made Minister for Tourism, Sport and Racing when Labor returned to government in 1998.
