  1. Bond Market Association

The Bond Market Association former name Public Securities Association was the international trade association for the bond market industry. It had headquarters in New York City , and offices in London and Washington D.C. Twenty per cent of the membership was located outside of the US, while 70 per cent was located outside New York City . The BMA acted as a global voice for bond issuers and traders, and co ordinated with governments, corporations, and investors. It also had a code of ethics, which required members to behave in a fashion of fairness. On November 1, 2006, The Bond Market Association merged with the Securities Industry Association to form the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association . Subprime Mortgage Role The BMA marketed informational publications on the subject of Collateralized Mortgage Obligations CMO s. In their document An Investors Guide to Collateralized Mortgage Obligations CMO s , copyright 2001, 1999 they failed to disclose the risk of mortgage default. Contained in this document is the phrase ..CMO s...also contain certain risks, which are detailed in this brochure. . Mortgage default is not mentioned in the document. The document instead focused on the safety of CMO s, with chapters such as The High Credit Quality of CMO s , and others. The only real risk mentioned in the document was prepayment risk , which would not undermine the existence of a CMO. The only risk mentioned in investing in CMO s is the potential to lose some expected profit. Refer to An Investors s Guide to Collaterlized Mortgage Obligations, CMO s, copyright 2001, 1999, but most of these copies have been altered after the crisis. About the BOND database software Bond disambiguation Bond orphan date June 2010 BOND Building Object Network Databases started development in late 2000 as a rapid application development tool for the GNOME Desktop by Treshna Enterprises . Its aim was to fill a gap that traditional Microsoft Windows applications like Borland Delphi , Microsoft Access and Visual Basic filled on the Windows desktop, but targeted for the Linux environment. Its goal was to allow developers to quickly build database forms in Extensible Markup Language XML for backend SQL databases. It has been employed extensively by Treshna Enterprises to develop applications such as PayMaster an opensource payroll application and GymMaster a commercial gym management application . Description It uses PostgreSQL as its backend database and GTK as its front end. Windows and HTML driven front ends are also available. While it initially worked closely with Glade Interface Designer Glade and the Gnome Desktop, newer versions have focused on more web oriented with Ajax programming AJAX driven Widget computing widgets . The Glade Extensible Markup Language XML format was abandoned a number of years ago and a new XML schema was developed to be more flexible with the range of data required for storing database information. BOND makes use of BONDDB which serves as a layer between the BOND API and the PostgreSQL backend. In the future, BOND aims to be a free open source solution that allows users to quickly create their own databases from scratch without being a skilled programmer or DBA. Accessed September 27, 2011. ref This type of bond protects investors if interest rates rise after bond purchase, the future value of coupon payments will become less valuable. Therefore, investors sell bonds back to the issuer and may lend proceeds elsewhere at a higher rate. Bondholders are ready to pay for such protection by accepting a lower yield to maturity yield relative to that of a straight bond. Of course, if an issuer has a severe liquidity crisis , it may be incapable of paying for the bonds when the investors wish. The investors also cannot sell back the bond at any time, but at specified dates. However, they would still be ahead of holders of non puttable bonds, who may have no more right than timely payment of interest and principal which could perhaps be many years to get all their money back . The price behaviour of puttable bonds is the opposite of that of a callable bond . Since call option and put option are not mutually exclusive , a bond may have both options embedded.
