In 1766, at the age of 14, he moved to London to begin his seven year apprenticeship to Samuel s brother, John Boydell.     Phillip Boydell was born on 21 May 1896 in Tyldesley Lancashire, to Oliver Boydell a master decorator and Merinda. He obtained a scholarship at the Manchester School of Art , but his studies were interrupted by conscription in 1914. He took over the business of his uncle, James Tassie , after James s death in 1799. On 28 January 1805, William Tassie won the Boydell Shakespeare Gallery and its painting collection in a lottery held to pay off the debts of its owner, John Boydell . Tassie s three guinea ticket won the top prize among the 22,000 sold. Boydell had died just before the drawing.     John Elliot Doctor of Medicine MD 1747 22 July 1787 was a physician and scientist in eighteenth century London who was the first person to conjecture that different parts of the retina respond to particular colours of light. However, he was obsessed with Mary Boydell, daughter of the publisher John Boydell , and in 1787 was arrested for attempting to murder her. She is Professor of Medieval history at the University of Southampton , former editor of the Journal of Medieval History , and a specialist in the Hundred Years War , especially the Battle of Agincourt . She is also President of the Historical Association of Great Britain 2008 to 2011. She was also a vice president of the Royal Historical Society.   1. Samuel Middiman

    Samuel Middiman 1750 1831 was an English engraver. Life He first appeared as an exhibitor of landscape drawings at the Incorporated Society of Artists in 1772 and following years, and in 1780 he exhibited drawings at the Royal Academy . He studied engraving under William Byrne engraver William Byrne , and is also said to have had instruction in this art from William Woollett . He was employed as an engraver by John Boydell for several years. Middiman died in Cirencester Place, London, on 20 December 1831.
