As an electronics engineer, Wright has created many of his own instruments. His homepage features a workshop gallery of home made noisemakers, circuit bent toys, and modular synths. Portions of the albums A Fire in the Bronx Zoo 1997 and The Starry Wisdom 1998 are inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft . Air travels to and from the external environment and the lungs through the Paranasal sinus sinuses , as opposed to the mouth. The sinuses do a better job of filtering the air as it enters the lungs. In addition, the smaller diameter of the sinuses create pressure in the lungs during exhalation, allowing the lungs to have more time to extract oxygen from them. When there is proper oxygen carbon dioxide exchange, the blood will maintain a balanced pH . If carbon dioxide is lost too quickly, as in mouth breathing, oxygen absorption decreases. A breathing tube is a flexible tube for breathing through, as part of a scuba set or other breathing apparatus or a medical oxygen apparatus or anaesthetic apparatus Here they are distinguished from the medium pressure hoses which are often found as parts of modern breathing apparatus . They are wide, and usually corrugated to let the user s head move about without the tube pinching at kinks. Each end usually has a screw connection. They may contain a one way valve to keep the air or gas flowing the right way. According to the expected usage, they may be pure rubber, or rubber reinforced with canvas outside or embedded or similar. If the canvas layer is outside as in the Siebe Gorman Salvus and the IDA71 and some old gasmask s, it protects the rubber from damage from scrapes but makes it harder to wash all the salt off after a saltwater dive. Breathing tubes have to be long enough to connect the apparatus to the diver s head in all attitudes of his head, but should not loop about excessively to cause hydrodynamic drag or risk snagging snag on things, or contain excess Deadspace in breathing apparatus dead space . In the IDA71 the looping over the shoulders breathing tubes can be tethered down to the diver s shoulders. Some early rebreather s had one breathing tube, which the breathed gas went through both ways this is called the pendulum system others have two breathing tubes, with one way valve s keeping the gas flowing the right way. Unreferenced date July 2007 Reverse Breathing is a breathing technique associated with yoga and qigong . It consists of expanding the abdomen while breathing out through the nose, and then compressing it while inhaling via the mouth the opposite of what an abdomen would do during natural, instinctive breathing. Via this process there can be paid especially close attention to the act of breathing. A pure, inner type of thought focus may thus arise. The technique is also widely practised in a number of martial arts notably Chinese systems such as Baguazhang , T ai chi ch uan , and Chinese Martial Arts Kung Fu . The reverse breathing is believed to activate healing and protective Chi as the practitioner is consciously controlling the breath in a way opposite to normal breathing. By expanding the abdomen while delivering some technique e.g. punch , the martial artists also protects the inner organs from any received counterattack.
