Fripp & Eno is an ambient musical side project composed of BrianEno and Robert Fripp . The duo have released four studio albums. The album Headcandy was also essentially a collaboration between the two, though credited just to Eno. The music created by this pair is entirely instrumental and has earned mixed critical acclaim. Roger Eugene Eno was born in Woodbridge, Suffolk Woodbridge , England in 1959. He is known primarily as an ambient music composer . He began euphonium lessons at twelve and at sixteen entered Colchester College to study music. On graduating, and after a period of busking in London where he briefly shared a house with artists Mark Wallinger and Andy Dog , he returned to Colchester to run a music therapy course at a local hospital for the mentally handicapped. His first recording experience was with his brother BrianEno and Daniel Lanois for the album Apollo at Lanois Grant Avenue Studios in Canada. His first solo album, Voices , appeared shortly afterwards. Although mainly regarded as a pianist, Roger Eno is in fact a multi instrumentalist and keen singer as demonstrated on his later solo albums and collaborations. He has worked with several key artists apart from his brother including Bill Nelson musician Bill Nelson , No Man , Lol Hammond , Mads Arp , Peter Hammill , Tim Bowness , and Michael Brook , the most successful of which was probably his co written album, The Familiar , with Kate St John . Several historical structures are conserved on the site, most notably a reproduction Colonial America colonial era mill known as the West Point Mill . History The Eno people Eno Indians first used this area to fish, hunt, and grow crops. Arrowheads left behind by the tribe can still be found today. When white settlers came to the area they noticed the springs that contained freshwater, which motivated them to invest in building mills across the area. The first mill built in the Eno was named Synott s Mill, which started operating in 1752 by Michael Synott, an almost legendary pioneer, who had problems in his personal life and appeared in court often. Shortly after Michael Synott died in 1780 the area was purchased by William Thetford and Charles Abercrombie, who built West Point Mill . While these mills were being produced a community began to build up and became known as West Point. The community was successful for a period of time but eventually all of its inhabitants died out or moved on. West Point Mill served its owners for 160 years until it was shut down by a paratrooper named Jacob Eller returning from the war in 1942, the last mill on the Eno to do so. http www.enoriver.org eno Shop Journals 1975 storyofwestpoint.html References reflist External links http www.enoriver.org eno parks WestPoint westpoint.html West Point on the EnoEno River Association National Register of Historic Places Category ... more details
