It is the fifth episode of the fifth season, and it first aired on October 14, 1993. Plot The four go to the hospital to meet friends who have just had a baby. At the hospital, George Costanza George gets a fortunate parking spot right in front of the hospital, which becomes unfortunate when a mental patient at the hospital suicide suicidally jumps from the roof and lands on it. George then attempts to get the hospital to pay for the car s damages, but is rejected. Cosmo Kramer Kramer , having directed the mental patient to the roof without realizing his intention, stumbles into the wrong room at the hospital and becomes convinced that he has seen a pigman , an encounter he quickly develops into part of a conspiracy theory concerning the government and genetic mutation, claiming, The government s been experimenting with pig men since the 50s The incident of discovering a pigman in a hospital bed parodies the British 1973 film O Lucky Man . The Bris is, however, a true reflecting instrument which derives its high accuracy from the same principle of double reflection which is fundamental to the octant, the true sextant, and other reflecting instruments. It differs from other sextants primarily in being a fixed angle sextant, capable of measuring a few specific angles. Sven Yrvind Lundin developed his Bris sextant as part of his quest for low cost, low technology equipment for ocean crossings. The Bris is a low technology, high precision, fixed interval instrument. It s made of two narrow, flat pieces of glass microscope slide s permanently and rigidly mounted in a V shape to a third flat piece of glass. When the sun or moon is viewed through the V, it is split into eight images. The instrument is small and rugged enough that it can be kept in a 35mm film 35mm film canister about 2 cm radius, 3 cm tall on a lanyard around one s neck. The Bris sextant is calibrated at a known geographic position with a good clock and a nautical almanac . He is famous for sailing alone across oceans in tiny boats of his own design. Sailing Yrvind has made several ocean crossings in his tiny boats. In 1980, Yrvind rounded Cape Horn in Bris II , a 20 5.90m boat of his own design, alone and in the middle of winter, a record for smallest boat to round the Cape. This achievement won Yrvind the 1980 Royal Cruising Club medal for seamanship. In the Roaring Forties he allegedly collided with a whale. Boat Design Yrvind designs and builds the boats he sails. The boats lack all forms of electronic communications equipment. Yrvind built his first boat Bris I in his mothers basement 1971 1972. The boat s size was determined by the size of the basement length 6.00 meter, width 1.72m, depth 0.40 0.90m. Bris II was built 1976 1978 with the dimensions length 5.90 meter, width 2.40m, depth 1.40m. A later boat, Yrvind , at an ambitious 4.1m, eventually turned out to be too small and too slow to make major ocean passages in cold waters.
