    Open Admissions is a play in 2 Acts by Shirley Lauro that premiered in 1982 at the Long Wharf Theatre under the direction of Arvin Brown . The play had its Broadway theatre Broadway debut on January 29, 1984 at the Music Box Theatre where it ran for a total of 17 performances. The Broadway production starred Calvin Levels as Calvin Jefferson, Marilyn Rockafellow as Ginny Carlsen, Nan Lynn Nelson as Salina Jones, Pam Potillo as Georgia Jones, and Sloane Shelton as Professor Clare Block. The play depicts the travails of a professor at a second rate college, including an unsupportive husband. Levels won a Theatre World Award and was nominated for both a Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for his performance. Rockafellow also received a Drama Desk Award nomination. Television adaptation In 1988 a television movie version of the play was made by Thom Mount s The Mount Company and Viacom using a screenplay by Lauro.     Civil procedure United States A request for admissions sometimes also called a request to admit are a set of statements sent from one litigant to an adversary, for the purpose of having the adversary Admission law admit or deny the statements or allegations therein. Requests for admissions are part of the Discovery law discovery process in a Civil law common law civil case . In the United States federal courts U.S. federal court system , they are governed by Rule 36 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure . Basic structure A request for admissions is a list of questions which are similar in some respects to interrogatories , but different in form and purpose. Each question is in the form of a Sentence linguistics declarative statement which the answering party must then either admit, deny, or state in detail why he or she can neither admit nor deny the truthfulness of the statement e.g. for lack of knowledge, etc. .     Morton Aaron Brody June 12, 1933 March 25, 2000 was an American judge. He served in the United States District Court for the District of Maine from 1991 to 2000. Brody was born in Lewiston, Maine . He graduated from Bates College in 1955 and University of Chicago Law School in 1958. Brody was engaged in private practice in Washington, DC from 1958 to 1961 and in Waterville, Maine from 1961 to 1980. Brody was then appointed as a justice on the Maine Superior Court Superior Court of Maine , serving from 1980 to 1985. Brody served as chief justice of the Superior Court from 1985 to 1990, and as an associate justice of the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine from 1990 to 1991. Morton Brody was nominated by George H. W. Bush on June 14, 1991, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089 in the District Court. He was confirmed by the United States Senate on July 18, 1991, and received his commission on July 25, 1991. Brody s service terminated on March 25, 2000, due to death in Boston, Massachusetts. Colby College in Maine has an annual award named after Brody.
