It is also common for pilots to deliberately execute a missed approach as part of initial or recurrent instrument training. In such cases a pilot may execute three or four instrument approaches in a row with a missed approach between each one. The missed approach procedure normally includes an initial heading or track and altitude to climb to, typically followed by holding instructions at a nearby navigation fix. The pilot is expected to inform Air traffic control ATC by radio of the initiation of the missed approach as soon as possible. ATC may simply acknowledge the missed approach call, or modify the missed approach instructions, for example with vectors to some other fix. ATC may subsequently clear the flight for another approach attempt, depending on the pilot s intentions, as well as weather and traffic considerations. 1. Contingency approach

Contingency approach , also known as situational approach, is a concept in management stating that there is no one universally applicable set of management principles rules by which to manage organizations. Organizations are individually different, face different situations contingency variables , and require different ways of managing. Contingency approaches remain less common than change management approaches. History Contingency approach evolved during the 1960s. Management theory and research began to adopt a new orientation, one that embodied a simple concept and enabled significant advancements in the study of management and organizations, now referred to as the contingency approach. It emphasised the importance of situational influences on the management of organisations and questioned the existence of a single, best way to manage or organise. Today, the contingency approach dominates theory and research in the management literature. Contingency approach challenged the classic process and models designed by management theorists such as Scientific management Taylor and Fayolism Fayol . 1. Lexical Approach

wikify date November 2009 The Lexical Approach is a method of language education teaching foreign languages described by M. Lewis in the 1990s. The basic concept on which this approach rests is the idea that an important part of learning a language consists of being able to understand and produce lexical phrase s as chunks. Students are thought to be able to perceive patterns of language grammar as well as have meaningful set uses of words at their disposal when they are taught in this way. In the lexical approach, instruction focuses on fixed expressions that occur frequently in dialogues, which Lewis claims make up a larger part of discourse than unique phrases and sentences. Vocabulary is prized over grammar per se in this approach. The teaching of chunks and set phrases has become common in English as a foreign or second language English as a second or foreign language , though this is not necessarily primarily due to the Lexical Approach. In a review of the approach, Dieter Kranz wrote, The Lexical Approach can be summarized in a few words language consists not of traditional grammar and vocabulary but often of multi word prefabricated chunks TESL EJ November 1997 Volume 3, Number 1 . He goes on to list the main principles of the approach 1. The grammar vocabulary dichotomy is invalid. 2. Collocation is used as an organizing principle. 3. Successful language is a wider concept than accurate language. 4. The Observe Hypothesise Experiment cycle replaces the Present Practise Produce Paradigm. 5. 1. Income approach

The Income Approach is one of three major groups of methodologies, called valuation approaches , used by appraisers. It is particularly common in commercial real estate appraisal and in business appraisal. The fundamental math is similar to the methods used for financial valuation, securities analysis, or bond pricing. However, there are some significant and important modifications when used in real estate or business valuation . While there are quite a few acceptable methods under the rubric of the income approach, most of these methods fall into three categories direct capitalization, discounted cash flow , and gross income multiplier. Direct Capitalization This is simply the quotient of dividing the annual net operating income NOI by the appropriate capitalization rate CAP rate . For income producing real estate, the NOI is the net income of the real estate but not the business interest plus any interest expense and non cash items e.g. depreciation minus a reserve for replacement. The CAP rate may be determined in one of several ways, including market extraction, band of investments, or a built up method. When appraising complex property, or property which has a risk adjustment due to unusual factors e.g. contamination , a risk adjusted cap rate is appropriate. ref Bill Mundy real estate Dr. Bill Mundy , The Impact of Hazardous Material on Value, The Appraisal Journal , 1992. ref An implicit assumption in direct capitalization is that the cash flow is a perpetuity and the cap rate is a constant. If either cash flows or risk levels are expected to change, then direct capitalization fails and a discounted cash flow method must be used.
