History Cahir GAA club was founded in Achievements Tipperary Senior Football Championship Tipperary Senior Football Champions 2003 Ladies Football The Ladies Football club in Cahir is one of the most successful in Tipperary fielding teams in U12, U14, U16, Minor, Junior and Intermediate. Born in Mountcharles in County Donegal , he became a journalist working on various local papers. He joined Sinn F in on its foundation in 1905. He later campaigned against the inclusion of County Fermanagh and County Tyrone in Northern Ireland , arguing that they had an Irish Nationalist majority. He was imprisoned for his activities in 1922, before being elected in the UK general election, 1922 to represent Fermanagh and Tyrone UK Parliament constituency Fermanagh and Tyrone as a Nationalist Party Northern Ireland Nationalist Party MP, but with the support of Sinn F in. He was re elected in 1923, but remained in custody until the following year, in which he did not defend his seat. Instead, he was elected to represent the seat in the Northern Ireland House of Commons in the Northern Ireland general election, 1925 1925 election , but not taking his seat until 1927 due to the Nationalist Abstentionism abstentionist policy. In 1928 he became a founder of the National League of the North . In 1929 he switched to sitting for South Fermanagh. He renewed his submission to Anthony St Leger Lord Deputy of Ireland Sir Anthony St. Leger in November 1540, and preferred a request to be allowed to hold his land in feudal tenure. He was anxious, he declared, to imitate his ancestor, Diarmait Mac Murchada , List of Kings of Leinster king of Leinster , who had introduced the English into Ireland, and by adopting English customs to assist in the re establishment of the English authority in the island. Though not a baron of parliament, he was allowed to sit in the parliament held by St. Leger in Dublin in 1541, and in 1543 he obtained a grant of the lordship of St. Molyns to himself and his heirs, without any division or partition to be made therein between his kinsmen , on condition of building himself a house or mansion at Pollmounty , of maintaining the accustomed fairs there, and of exercising a vigilant watch over the pass. Career In 1599 Cahir Castle was captured by the Earl of Essex . During the Siege of Cahir Castle siege the Baron was held prisoner, although his wife and brother refused to give it up. In 1599 he joined in the Earl of Tyrone s rebellion, but then surrendered and was attained. On 27 May 1601 he was pardoned for all treason and crimes.
