  1. Calderbank

Calderbank is a village outside the town of Airdrie North Lanarkshire , Scotland , The village lies 13 miles east of Glasgow city centre and around 34 miles west of Edinburgh.Other major towns include Airdrie 2.5 miles Coatbridge 4 miles, Bellshill 4 miles and Motherwell 5 miles. Etymology The village s name is of a doubtful etymology. The first part of the name refers to the river Calder that flows through the village however the second element is unknown. Some sources suggest the second element is from Old English language Old English benc Bench furniture bench . A record of the name from 1182 as Celdrebec suggests this. History The village is famous for being the birthplace of the Vulcan barge Vulcan , the world s first iron boat, which sailed from Calderbanks Iron Works to the River Clyde and plied the Scottish canals first with passengers and then with cargoes of iron and coal. Iron from the Calderbanks works was used to build the RMS Queen Mary Queen Mary cruise liner. The Monkland Canal was extended to the west of the village in the late 18th century and was used as a route to transport coal to Port Dundas in Glasgow 12 miles away. This part of the canal has been preserved between the village and Sikeside on the outskirts of Coatbridge. And other parts of the canal can be seen in Coatbridge town centre and Drumpelier country park, however much of the canal was covered in the 1950s and 1960s by the M8 motorway which actually runs with the meanders of what was the canal yet under the motorway large pipes still run water which feed the Forth and Clyde canal today . Calderbank was the site of early Christian settlement, by monks from Newbattle Abbey in the Scottish Borders Borders . This gave the local area the name of Monklands Scotland Monklands . Cleanup rewrite date March 2011 Leonard Calderbank 1809 1864 , was a Catholic priest and canon of Clifton. Calderbank was the nephew of James Calderbank , and son of Richard and Jane Calderbank, was born on 3 June 1809 at Standish, near Wigan, Lancashire. He was educated first at a school in his native village, and afterwards became a student at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire. In December 1829 he removed from study of the questions of civil and spiritual Ampleforth to Prior Park, near Bath. A few years after this Calderbank went to complete his theological studies at Rome, where, on 11 Nov. 1832, he was ordained to the priesthood. Returning to England in 1833 he went at once upon a mission in the western district. He was placed successively at Trelawny, Tawstock, Weobley, Poole, and Cannington. In April 1839 he was appointed chaplain of the convent of the Immaculate Conception, in Sion House, at Spetisbury, near Blandford, in Dorsetshire. On 9 Nov. 1849 he was recalled to Prior Park by Bishop Hendren, then vicar apostolic of the western district. For nearly a year he held at Prior Park the double position of vice president and professor of theology at St. Paul s College. On 9 Oct. 1850 he was again, however, sent upon the mission, being appointed to the charge of the catholic congregation of St. Peter s in the city of Gloucester. Under the then newly created hierarchy he was not long afterwards installed a canon of Clifton. As missionary rector at Gloucester he contrived by his zealous exertions to build up an entirely new church and presbytery, the former 01 which was solemnly opened in March 1860. Calderbank died suddenly of heart disease on 24 June 1864. References reflist DNB wstitle Calderbank, Leonard Use dmy dates date March 2011 Persondata Metadata see Wikipedia Persondata . 1. Settlement offer

Unreferenced stub auto yes date December 2009 A settlement offer or offer to settle is a term used in a civil action civil lawsuit to describe a communication from one party to the other suggesting a settlement law settlement an agreement to end the lawsuit before a judgment is rendered. Lawyer Attorneys typically negotiate terms of a settlement on behalf of their clients, so a settlement offer is usually conveyed by one party s attorney directly to the other party s attorney. In the English Law, Part 36 of the Civil Procedure Rules governs this area. In the US, evidence law evidence of settlement discussions generally, and of settlement offers specifically, is generally inadmissible in court. This is a policy based exclusion, intended to encourage the settlement of cases out of court, thus freeing up the resources of the court system. In Australia and the United Kingdom, offers of settlement may be called Calderbank Offers , Calderbank Letters and Offers of Compromise and often have a major impact on the allocation, by courts, of legal costs between parties. 1. Space?time trellis code

Space time trellis codes STTCs are a type of space time code used in multiple input multiple output multiple antenna wireless wireless communications . This scheme transmits multiple, redundancy information theory redundant copies of a convolutional code trellis or convolutional code distributed over time and a number of antenna radio antennas space . These multiple, diverse copies of the data are used by the receiver to attempt to reconstruct the actual transmitted data. For an STC to be used, there must necessarily be multiple transmit antennas, but only a single receive antennas is required nevertheless multiple receive antennas are often used since the performance of the system is improved by so doing. In contrast to space time block code s STBCs , they are able to provide both coding gain and diversity gain and have a better bit error rate bit error rate performance. However, being based on convolutional code trellis codes , they are more complex than STBCs to encode and decode they rely on a Viterbi algorithm Viterbi decoder at the receiver where STBCs need only linear processing. STTCs were discovered by Vahid Tarokh et al. in 1998 . ref name construction cite journal author Vahid Tarokh, Nambi Seshadri, and A. R.
