The Canada s Cup is a sailboat race held periodically on the Great Lakes . It is a match race i.e., a race between two individual yachts between two boats from Canada and the United States. The first match was held in 1896, and the cup has crossed the lakes several times. It was held most recently in October 2007 off Toronto , Ontario , Canada , and sailed in Farr 40 sailboats. The U.S. challenger Heartbreaker Macatawa Bay Yacht Club defeated the defender Honour Royal Canadian Yacht Club to take the cup back to Lake Michigan .
