  1. Canadians of convenience

Canadian citizenship The term Canadians of convenience was coined by Canadian politician Garth Turner in 2006 in conjunction with the evacuation of Canadian citizens from Lebanon during the 2006 Israel Lebanon conflict . It is a pejorative term intended to refer to people with multiple citizenship who immigrated to Canada, met the residency requirement to obtain citizenship, obtained and moved back to their original home country while maintaining their Canadian citizenship , with those who support the term claiming they do so as a safety net . Statistics and analyses are unavailable on the distinction between evacuees who were long term residents of Lebanon and those who were not and on how many of the long term residents had returned to Lebanon immediately after acquiring their Canadian citizenship. Coining of the term Although the term was used by others such as Peter Worthington of the Toronto Sun earlier during the conflict in Lebanon, it was made most prominent by posts by Garth Turner , a then Conservative Party of Canada Conservative Members of the Canadian House of Commons MP for Halton electoral district Halton , on his blog , and the subsequent reactions. Turner questioned the fairness of paying CAD 75,000 for each evacuee, saying, among other things, that s a hell of a lot ... citizens. Weasel date March 2009 Unreferenced date April 2007 For the racehorse Convenience horse Convenience is anything that is intended to save resources time , energy or frustration . A convenience store at a petrol station , for example, sells items that have nothing to do with gasoline petrol , but it saves the consumer from having to go to a grocery store . Convenience is a very relative term and its meaning tends to change over time. What was once a convenience eg. an automobile is today regarded as a normal part of life. Likewise today s luxuries may be perceived in the same way in the future. Some have criticized Western culture , particularly American culture , for its reliance on such conveniences and the Eastern culture, particularly the Middle East for its lack of conveniences. The Amish such as the Pennsylvania Dutch shun all modern conveniences, including electricity . Some conveniences can also sometimes turn out to be nuisance s, including personal computer s can be difficult to use, though this is improving gradually and mobile phone s with annoying rings and conversations in what would or should be a quiet place . Conveniences also cost time and money to fix when they break down, and may cause much greater costs if something else that depends on them cannot take place. On the other hand, conveniences such as direct deposit can save everyone money, though this may or may not be passed along to the consumer. 1. Convenience cooking

Unreferenced date April 2007 Convenience cooking is the practice of streamlining recipes for simplicity and speed of preparation. It is a common practice in Western cultures, where both men and women work outside the home and elaborate meals are difficult if not impossible to pull off given the usual time constraints. Though seemingly a recent phenomenon, guides to convenience cooking go as far back as 1930 French Cooking in Ten Minutes by Edouard de Pomiane , which tried to minimize the time put into much French cooking of the day. Current well known practitioners of the art include Rachael Ray and Sandra Lee cook Sandra Lee in addition, Cook s Illustrated magazine has often incorporated convenience cooking principles into their recipes. Ingredient simplification A significant amount of convenience cooking revolves around simplifying recipes to five or fewer ingredients. There is a substantial genre of cookbooks devoted to such dishes, often, though not always using other prepared foods as ingredients. In this division, ingredients generally does not include such things as spices and water. Time economy Another important skill in convenience cooking is time management. This genre of cooking focuses largely on process and technique rather than ingredients, and is aimed at getting the best quality out of a quickly prepared meal as possible, especially using common kitchen tools rather than specialized equipment such as convection oven s and microwave oven s. Some recipes remove certain steps that take large amounts of time. Sometimes kneading dough is removed from the process of making bread because it requires large amounts of time and effort. A common adjunct to this school of food preparation is the slow cooker , which allows unattended preparation of braises, soups, and stews. 1. Convenience yield

Unreferenced date December 2009 A convenience yield is an adjustment to the cost of carry in the non arbitrage pricing formula for forward prices in markets with trading constraints. Let math F t,T math be the forward price of an asset with initial price math S t math and maturity math T math . Suppose that math r math is the continuously compounded interest rate for one year. Then, the non arbitrage pricing formula should be math F t,T S t cdot e r T t math However, this relationship does not hold in most commodity markets, partly because of the inability of investors and speculators to short the underlying asset, math S t math . Instead, there is a correction to the forward pricing formula given by the convenience yield math c math . Hence math F t,T S t cdot e r c T t math This makes it possible for backwardation to be observable. Example A trader has observed that the price of 6 month math T math gold futures price F is 1,300 per troy ounce, whereas the spot price S is 1,371 per troy ounce. The not compounded borrowing rate for a 6 month loan math r math is 3.5 per annum, and storage cost for gold is negligible 0 . Since we know we have the relation math F S left 1 r c T right math What is the convenience yield implied by the futures price? From the formula above, we isolate the convenience yield math c math , and we obtain math c r frac 1 T 1 frac F S math math c 0.035 frac 1 0.5 1 frac 1300 1371 0.13857 13.9 math per annum, not compounded For information, if we had a continuously compounded 6 month borrowing rate and if we were looking for the continuously compounded convenience yield, we would have the formula math F S cdot e r c T math And the convenience yield would ... 14.1 math per annum, continuously compounded Why should a convenience yield exist? 1. Convenience package

unreferenced date May 2008 A convenience package is a set of minor functional enhancements to a vehicle, sold and priced as a unit. Many of these items are now included as standard equipment in a step up model of a particular vehicle line. As vehicles imported to the United States do not generally include the lowest stripper model, many of these features are standard on such imports. For domestic manufactures, vehicles will often use a common wiring harness regardless of features installed and so the marginal cost of adding these enhancements can be quite low for the manufacture and so enhance profitability. This use of a standard wiring harness can make it relatively easy to upgrade an older car using components from salvage vehicles. Many of the features now taken as standard, such as the passenger compartment dome light were once extra cost features or only seen in higher end models. Some features listed below may not be available on lower priced vehicles. Typical convenience package enhancements include Automatic headlight dimmer may be part of a safety package Coming Leaving Home light activation to illuminate the surrounding of a vehicle when passengers and or the driver emerge.
