It reaches a height of 52 m 171 ft a.s.l. Lying in the estuary of the River Teifi , it is known for having a small colony of grey seal s. It is within 200 metres of the Welsh coastline near Gwbert . It is owned and managed by the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales . The island was once the home of puffin s and Manx shearwater . A guide book in the 1890s referred to the puffins as Welsh parrots . In 1924 Welsh writer and naturalist Ronald Lockley wrote that there were probably 25 to 30 pairs on the island. However, in 1934 a ship ran aground on the island in a storm, and rats made it ashore.     Henllan is a village in the Wales Welsh county of Ceredigion . Henllan is situated along minor roads off the A484 Cardigan, Ceredigion Cardigan to Carmarthen road, some miles east of Newcastle Emlyn and now merges as a result of infill development with the small settlement of Trebedw . The settlement lies to the south of the Teifi Valley Railway amidst steep, attractive woodland areas many of which are subject to Tree Preservation Order s in the Teifi Valley . Henllan comprises over 90 dwellings. It has a post office and local community facilities, is served by the primary school at Aberbanc and by Newcastle Emlyn for other shops and services. The Welsh language is in every day use. Henllan is served by a bus route between Carmarthen and Newcastle Emlyn, serviced on a daily basis. Several enterprises are located in the settlement, including the old railway station at Henllan, which is the centre for the Vale of Teifi Railway Preservation Society, and an important tourist facility for the area. The society was founded, as Cardiganshire Antiquarian Association, 1911 to promote the understanding of the history and archaeology of the county. In 2002 it became Ceredigion Historical Society. The Society started to publish Transactions and Archaeological Record of the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Association in 1913 it ceased in 1938. In 1951 Ceredigion Journal of the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Association started. In 2002 it was renamed Ceredigion Journal of Ceredigion Historical Society . It contains historical articles and book reviews. It is mostly in English but there is some Welsh language content.     Ceredigion Museum is a museum in Aberystwyth , Ceredigion , Wales . Location Ceredigion Museum is located at The Coliseum, Terrace Road, Aberystwyth. It is managed by Ceredigion County Council . It is housed in a restored Edwardian Theatre. History The museum was established in 1972 by the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Society who gave it to the newly formed Ceredigion District Council in 1974. In 1996 it was transferred to Ceredigion County Council. Exhibition & collection The museum aims to reflect the rich history and archaeology of the county. There are notable collections of Welsh furniture, costume and many objects associated with the county s farming and agricultural heritage. There is a fine collection of Taxidermy by the Hutchings family 1870s 1942 and many paintings by Alfred Worthington 1835 1925 . The Museum organises temporary exhibitions on local history and art and has displays at Lampter Library The Kite Centre, Tregaron the Harbourmaster s office, New Quay and owns a cottage at Llanon which is open during most August afternoons.
