Onesource date April 2008 CastleHillProductions was an independent television and film distribution company handling classic and independent films whose library spans eight decades. Background Founded in 1978 by Julian Schlossberg , CastleHillProductions revived and restored over 200 classic motion pictures, many of which were originally United Artists releases and inherited from the family and or estates of the films original producers under the Caidin Film Company. As the company grew, CastleHill acquired the rights to many films by John Cassavetes , such as Faces film Faces and A Woman Under the Influence . Both Schlossberg and Gena Rowlands Cassavetes widow , through their company, Faces Distribution , have worked hard to revive the films for today s audiences in order for them to better appreciate the late director s work. CastleHill also bought the rights to many of the films of Elia Kazan and Orson Welles . In addition to their classic films, the company also distributed contemporary films usually up to ten a year , and has been involved in in house production, creating documentaries on filmmakers and news events. In 2009, CastleHill folded and most of their holdings sold to another independent company, Westchester Films . Most distribution rights to CastleHill s library are handled by either Warner Bros. , Classic Media , or Image Entertainment . The region is at the Southwestern tip of Salisbury Plain . As the name suggests, a medieval castle stood on top of the hill for about 200 years. Apparently, the sides of the hill were artificially steepened, and it is generally supposed this was done for defensive reasons, but it is unknown whether this was done in medieval times or earlier, maybe even during the megalithic period. In this respect, Castle Hill may be compared with other unusual hills in Britain, such as Silbury Hill in Wiltshire. Little is known about the castle that once stood on its flattened apex. It is widely believed that stones from the castle were used when building some of the houses in Mere, yet even here there is much evidence to be collected.
