The Rhaetian Alps are a part of the Central Eastern Alps along the Italian Swiss and Austrian Swiss borders, located in the Graub nden canton in eastern Switzerland, in the Austrian land of Tyrol state Tyrol and in the Italian regions of Trentino Alto Adige and Lombardy . Piz Bernina 13,284 ft 4,049 m , set on the Swiss Italian border, is the highest peak. Geology The range is part of the Styrian Lower Austrian Limestone Alps and is separated from its neighbouring massifs by the valley of the M rz part of the tectonically active Mur M rz Furrow , the upper reaches of the M rz main settlement M rzsteg and the road over the Styrian Seeberg Pass . It is described by geologists as a ridge and basin facies Schwellen und Becken Fazies .
