He represented King s County from 1830 to 1843, Cornwallis Township from 1851 to 1859 and King s County from 1851 to 1863 in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly . He was born in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia Cornwallis Township, Nova Scotia , the son of William Allen Chipman and Ann Osborn. In 1815, he married Elizabeth Gesner, sister of Abraham Pineo Gesner Abraham Gesner . He married Jessie W. Hardy in 1841 after the death of his first wife. Chipman served in the local militia and was also a freemason . He received a number of appointments to patronage posts in King s County and Annapolis County over the years. In 1863, he was named to the province s Legislative Council of Nova Scotia Legislative Council and served until 1870, when he was named registrar of deeds for Kings County, Nova Scotia King s County . Daniel Chipman October 22, 1765 April 23, 1850 was a United States Representative from Vermont . He was born in Salisbury, Connecticut . He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1788. He studied law and was admitted to the bar and practiced in Rutland city , Vermont Rutland, Vermont 1790 1794. In addition, he was a member of the state constitutional conventions in 1793, 1814, 1836, 1843, and 1850. He moved to Middlebury town , Vermont Middlebury, Vermont in 1794. Chipman was a member of the Vermont House of Representatives 1798 1808, 1812 1814, 1818, and 1821, and served as speaker during the sessions of 1813 and 1814. He was a professor of law at Middlebury College 1806 1818 and a member of the Governor s council in 1808. He was elected as a Federalist Party United States Federalist Party to the Fourteenth Congress and served from March 4, 1815, to May 5, 1816, when he resigned. Henry C. Chipman 1784 1867 was a judge of the Supreme Territorial Court of Michigan from 1827 until 1832. Chipman was the son of Vermont senator Nathaniel Chipman . He studied at Middlebury College and then moved to South Carolina . He served in the War of 1812 . In 1823 he came to Michigan. He served as a justice for Wayne County before being appointed to the Michigan Territorial Supreme Court. Stephen L. Chipman 1864 1945 was a member of the Utah State Legislature in 1903 and a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints LDS Church in Utah County, Utah Utah County . He was also the first Temple president president of the Salt Lake Temple who was not also an Apostle Latter Day Saints apostle in the LDS Church. Chipman studied at Brigham Young Academy the predecessor of Brigham Young University BYU as a youth. From 1885 to 1887 he served as a Mormon missionary in the Southern States Mission LDS Church Mission of the LDS Church, spending most of his time as a missionary in North Carolina , Tennessee and Virginia . In 1885, before he left on his mission, Chipman had married Sine Nielsen. They eventually became the parents of seven children. Chipman at various times served as a member of the city council of American Fork, Utah , a member of the Utah County Commission, and in 1903 began serving in the Utah State Legislature. William Allen Chipman November 8, 1757 &ndash December 28, 1845 was a merchant, land owner, judge and political figure in Nova Scotia . He represented Kings County, Nova Scotia King s County from 1799 to 1806, from 1818 to 1826 and from 1828 to 1830, Sydney County, Nova Scotia Sydney County from 1807 to 1808 and Cornwallis, Nova Scotia Cornwallis Township from 1811 to 1818 in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly He was born in Newport, Rhode Island , the son of Handley Chipman and Jean Allen, and came to Cornwallis Township with his parents in 1761. Chipman served as clerk for the township and customs collector for King s County. He was also justice of the peace and judge of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas from 1821 to 1841. In 1777, he married Ann Osborn. Chipman voted against the measure which passed to allow Laurence Kavanagh to sit in the assembly without taking the required oath against transubstantiation . He was a prominent member of the local freemason s and helped establish the Baptist church in Nova Scotia. As a member of the Nova Scotia Baptist Education Society, he helped establish Horton Academy and Queen s College later Acadia University . He died in Cornwallis. His son Samuel Chipman Samuel also served in the House of Assembly.
